What happened to the days when you only knew a club was interested in a player was when they announced the signing or you saw them run out on a Saturday morning? All this speculation, some started by the the player's own 'people' gets boring with players linked with multiple clubs, depending on where you get the information from. gets proper tiresome and boring.
If i remember, didn't Tottenham sign Odobert without any info leaking out?

I think you're right, but nobody would have cared anyway. The last great 'surprise' signing I remember us making was Van der Vaart. I'm pretty sure that came out of the blue on a deadline day.

It will not happen now with anyone notable, you have enough "in the know" Twitter accounts that every player is linked with every club. It's like the nature of infinity and infinite monkeys typing the works of Shakespeare.

So looking like Wirtz will be sorted by the end of the week - a structured deal worth just under £120mil 😲 , heck of a lot of money for him , looks talented from what I have seen but it’s still - £120mil ?!

Other player to arrive will be Kerkez

£40mil - he looks a very good player

That’s two very good full backs to arrive

Club will then look to move some players on - Nunez , Elliot , Kostas will definitely go imo

Diaz - Saudi team looking to spend £80mil on him ( Ronaldo’s ex team ) and think we then look at a CF - the same names “linked” are the same linked to all the teams looking for a CF

Then think we will lose one of the CBs - Gomez or Quansah if we find a young left sided CB - someone like Hato

It’s shaping up to be a very good summer ( after a very quiet one last year ) and the team could well be significantly better than last season

Also saw that Ringmahon Rangers in Cork had a sell on clause for Kelleher of 20% which gives them a very nice windfall to help them

Out of interest, without cheating, how many Saudi Arabian clubs can people name in here off the top of their heads?

Having thought about it, I can name a grand total of zero

Everytime a player is linked to a club over there, or actually go over there, the general news is generally just "so and so linked to Saudi Arabia". The club name will probably me mentioned somewhere in the main article, but sort of hidden away and it is sort of irrelevant and random.

Any time a player is linked to any transfer outside SA, it is always about the club making the bid. When it is Saudi Arabia, it is the "league" making a bid. I bet players that move over there care very little about which actual club they go to, just as long as they get paid the big bucks. It all seems very random as to who goes where.

Can only remember a clubs when they have been linked to a player

For example Al Nasser because they are linked to Diaz

Al Hilal because they are linked to Nunez and also Fernandes

But they are just names , no idea where they are based etc or who else plays for them

I know Al Nasser didn’t make the Club World Cup thing

No idea who won the league

I know Toney was the leading scorer behind Ronaldo but what team he plays for 🤷‍♂️

It was the same situation when the Chinese Super League happened

So much for you telling us Liverpool wouldn’t spend £100m+ on 1 player 😬
Guess that’ll be another big money record signing 😉

Are they ever going to buy a striker though? Or will it be another season of Gakpo playing false nine? Or can Wirtz play there even? According to Wiki, he has played there on occasions.

Not sure - think it depends on Diaz tbh

Writz can play as a false 9 , Gakpo played from the left last season with either Jota , Nunez or Diaz through the middle

Wirtz can also play from the left

And once they one "transfer scoop" right they'll live of that reputation for years

He can look all he wants but I cannot see us paying that sort of wage. Will just have to wait and see should the deal go through of course.

That’s the problem now for United - players will be asking for silly money to go there because of the situation they are in - some players will leap on that with their demands

That’s a lot to read through in the last few pages, but as ever the problem for me comes down to money.

Sancho, is he good/is he bad. If you’re 23 earning £300k a week how much motivation do you really have. If he had cost £40m and was on £60k a week nobody would bat an eye lid, great value you might say. Go back 20 years and that would be near world record amounts.

It’s simple…..money ruins football, just too much of it around.

There are some well known “ITK” that you trust

Each club will have local sources that know there stuff and there is someone like Romano who seems to get a lot of stuff spot on
I'll wait for a proper journalist (whatever one of those is these days) rather than those who think they have a proper career on anti social media.

Romani is a bad as jim white who both think that no transfer can go through without them giving their approval

Re Sancho, when he went to Dortmund he was praised for wanting to go away from City and play football. City and Phil Foden were slated for holding Foden back. Now look at Sancho. Yet no one says anything 🤔. yes Foden has had a bad season but there are reasons for that.
That aside, City pay less for two quality players than Liverpool pay for one. Happy days indeed. I have a feeling it could be a busy month or two for City offloading more than what comes in.
