Someone clearly decided that he was worth it
If Sancho was a one off then lots of fingers pointed at player - but he isn’t , it’s a long list of talented young players whose career has nose dived at the club

Getting back to my, ahem, controversial post a la french lads, how many of the PSG team were French? How many English players play for a single English team. Hell, Foden can't get in Citys team and I think he's one of the best we have. We are miles behind. I, for the first time ever, will not be stressing over watching those clowns any more. Grass roots football is getting no more money than it used to. The FA are not paying to train anyone who wants to get their badges. We have to fund ourselves, and it costs a fortune. I've got the first badge, but I'm damned if I'm paying for the second and beyond. Oh and the first is a doddle. It's very amateurish.

PSG had two French players in their line up
When City won the CL they had 2 in the line up
There was also more English on the bench for city than French for PSG

There is a reason so many of the best players in the world come from Latin America. Playing football to get out of poverty and change their families life's
Same with African players
Rather than English players if they don't make it they will still be fed and comfortable

You are giving credit to the people who decided to buy Sancho, as he is a talented player, which backs your view.
The same people who bought Antony.
I've no doubt, btw, that Sancho has some talents. But, his attitude seems to be a big problem. To excuse that attitude by blaming the club is quite something, but not unexpected.

I would agree that the above applies to some players we have bought however to Sancho I do not agree. He arrived for a load of cash and it appears to be a good deal for United albeit at an inflated price. He was constantly late which was also the case in Dortmund but they let that slide due to his performances. At United his form was pretty rubbish so that wasn't the case. He also had previous for England as he was dropped for being late. He was given time off to try and sort his head out but he came back no better. A lot of people blamed the state at United for his failings however he went to Chelsea and he was equally appalling, so much so they'd rather pay £5m to send him back than sign him on higher wages. He seems to think he can command the salary of a world class player when he has the form of a national league player.
I cannot see anyone taking him on unless we effectively give him away as that covers his wages. Assuming we can't get a sensible offer I'd prefer to see him rot in the reserves and then he can disappear once his contract is up. I would be happy to bet that he'll never amount to anything regardless of where he goes as he's just got an attitude problem and seems to think he deserves this life rather than has to work for it.

There’s something which many observers are missing in all of this.
There are any number of players who have arrived in this country from the continent with glowing CV’s, who have then crashed and burned in the Premier League.
Sure, United have had their fair share over the years. Veron was a classic example. Good at United, but never as good as his reputation suggested he would be. And he was equally average at Chelsea. So not really an issue necessarily endemic with one club.
Veron is just one example. There are many more. And whilst United have signed a number of these underachievers, that doesn’t necessarily signify that the club makes players worse, more that their recruitment of players who have never played in the Premier League has been misguided. At best.
Bottom line, and I’ve said this many times here, the Premier League is not suited to all players, regardless of their pedigree. And that’s not indicative of a club which routinely makes players worse. It’s a sign of poor recruitment.

One of the areas that I think we have done better than most is player recruitment and there were a few key people in that - mainly the team under Michael Edwards and all the data staff , all of our successful signings have done with his watchful eye over it all and it wasn’t a surprise when he came back and it’s not a surprise they continue that way under him again
The issue with United has in the whole been what has seemed a lack of plan or clear process on player recruitment
From the splashing the big money on the likes of Di Maria , to bringing in former players the manager had there never seemed to be a plan and someone who was in charge of that plan - and no real proper Director of Football, and even getting one in turned into a farce
Looking at the management staff it now seems to be Jason Wilcox ? Who seems to have done well at City as their academy director and a little stint at Southampton- so maybe there is someone there now will a bit more of a plan
It will be interesting to see who they do bring in and how much they can get for players
