Yeah, and I'm sure Liverpool and City will be gutted that they haven't lowered in quality enough to enter and win the Conference League yet. 😂

Can only beat what's in front of you. Shame you guys never took it seriously or you would have 2 trophies this decade which I'm sure the fans would have loved

No we wouldn't, we would have the same amount of trophies just a slightly worse one. You know how timelines work, you watch enough Marvel - if you change it and win the first one everything after that is different. 😄

Wouldn't have appointed Ange .... So that's a positive?

Your team: Reading
Mark out of 10 for the season: 8
Player of the season: Harvey Knibbs
Young player of the season (Under 23): Tyler Bindon
Best signing: Transfer embargo so no signings allowed. Best loan would be Chem Campbell from Wolves.
Most improved player: Charlie Savage
Unsung hero: Joel Perriera
Most disappointing player: Can't fault anyone in the circumstances
Cult Hero Award: Mbengue
Best match/result of the season: Beating Wrexham 2-0
Best single moment of the season: Lewis Wing's late goal at Bristol Rovers/Takeover being announced
Worst single moment of the season: Missing out on the Play Offs on the final day

I'm very excited to see what Bindon does in pre-season.

It seems Liam Delap has opted for Chelsea ahead of United and others. And I’m told by regular golf partners that I should be disappointed.

Why would I be? His stats this season are no better than Hojlund’s were last year. I get Delap may be one for the future, but United really don’t need another player for the future who fails to reach the level people expect them to.

To be fair, Delap scored 12 league goals compared to Hojlund with 4. That's a better return by some degree. Clearly Utd were not good this/last season but Ipswich were worse. I'd also say he looks like he has more about him.

I don't think you can carry both of those, you need one older, more established striker, but Delap looks a far better bet than Hojlund, based on the season just gone.

I’m referring to both player’s respective first full Premier League seasons - ie this season for Delap, last season for Hojlund.

Hojlund last season looked a far better player in my view than Delap has looked this. But the United man has shown very clearly that it is unwise to judge a player on their first full season.

Buying another largely unproven striker is not the path I really want to see United going down.

I feel that Utd need a presence on the pitch. A decent striker that will lead the line and boss defenders. Same for midfield & for defence, although Harry isn’t too bad at it. As for a keeper, that’s been done to death. Will he be better with a decent team in front of him?

My concern, if Utd buy mid table mediocrity then they will cement the feeling that that is who they have become. With proper mgt and recruitment Utd are a far better club than that.

You could look at it another way. He could be the big fish in the little pond trying to avoid the big pond. On the other hand, Chelsea seem to have so many players it wouldnt surpise me for him to be sold in a couple of years as he's not getting enough game time.

Hojlund was always crap mate. He had a run of about 5-6 games where he looked decent but for the vast majority of the season he was poor. This season he's just proved it further.

Delap is a much better player and has looked a real handful and made things happen on his own up top in a terrible side. It's an insult to be compared to Hojlund of even last season. If Utd have missed out on him at £30m it's a disaster.

I completely agree. Not dismissing the guy, but I was much more excited about the prospect of getting Cunha than I was about Delap (as a signing generally, I know they'd be different players/positions)

Delap could be excellent, so I'd certainly have been optimistic if he had come to Utd. But, we've had a young striker try to lead the line for a couple of years now, and it just hasn't worked. He doesn't have the presence to demand the ball from his team mates, he doesn't have the experience to find good positions, and he lacks the confidence to deal with the constant scrutiny in leading the line at Utd. I'd be worried about Delap maybe being in the same category in many of those areas Hojlund lacks in. I also can't say his goalscoring rate is overly impressive at Stoke, Preston, Hull and Ipswich, although that isn't to say he wouldn't hit brilliant numbers at a club that creates lots of chances (which we don't)
