Coming back to this it will be interesting to see what the red card for

It seems that it was for shaking the refs hand aggressively and with intent ?!

As opposed to anything he said

Having seen footage of the red card this morning I can’t for one moment imagine Slot has been carded for the hand shake.

It must have been for something he said.

One of the commenters said “we don’t want to see scenes like that” at the end of the game.

I do,give me that over all the players hugging & being best mates.
It’s a derby 👊🏻 😉

A ref would normally only react like that if you called them a cheat or implied that they were cheating with what you said.

Funny when fans go to town in criticizing referees, and then use the opinion of former referees like Hackett to back up their point. Don't know a lot about Hackett, but found some interesting quotes from others on this forum about him:

"Hackett has become a rent a quote for the media"
"radio were discussing this morning about a decision with shock-jock ref Keith Hackett"

I've noticed that as broadcasters start to employ more ex-referees as pundits, and more speak to media generally, they have become more and more critical of current referees. To me, it is clear that they have realised backing the referee earns them no fans. Criticising referees and being on the side of the moaning fans serves them better.

Ha ha, before I reached your post I was going to post words to this effect about Hackett! He's always mouthing off on Twitter/X. Think he enjoys courting controversy!

No he wasn’t.
“If I am Ibrahima Konate I am wanting a foul for that challenge. You can see why Arne Slot was furious. There was a slight little nudge in the box and if that was my team I would be appealing. I would be getting sent off after the game too.”

~ Phil Jagielka (Everton stalwart)

😁😉

VAR will never overrule that sort of challenge anyway as it’s always subjective

Looking at the “handshake-gate” video to me it looks like Slot is trying to pull the ref towards him, bit like a schoolyard bully would to a kid he’s going to thump. It’s very silly and very very funny 🤣
Yep. My immediate thought after seeing it was that the body language looked like childish manipulative bully behaviour.

Just proves that a lot of footballers are a bunch of cheats I guess. 🤷‍♂️

And now they have deleted it 🤷‍♂️
How realistic did you expect it to be? When have the FA come to a final conclusion on a ban the morning after an evening game? It takes time for them to get together, listen to all the evidence and conclude what the ban should be. Instantly reacting to tweets is probably not best practice.

It was on the Premier League website 🙄

On Thursday morning, the Premier League initially revealed a statement which read: 'Liverpool head coach Arne Slot was dismissed at the end of the Merseyside derby for using offensive, insulting, or abusive language. He is handed a two-match touchline ban as a result'. However, the statement was deleted just minutes later.

It's practically a meme at this point, every time a commentator says "nobody wants to see that" it's exactly what everyone wants to see. I think they do it on purpose, they know that that's the phrase they're supposed to say.
I certainly enjoyed Gary Neville kissing the Man Utd badge in front of Liverpool supporters :)
