I see that Sian Massey Ellis is on the line. Not seen her in ages. Speaking of assistant referees, I always thought she was very good. Guessing she stopped for family reasons.

Just read that Iran were television a match she was on the line, and cut away from game 100 times to show outdoor footage of London. All because they didn't want to show her legs. Crazy

What’s going on with Mainoo , had the world at his feet 12 months ago , clearly a very talented player but looks a shadow of himself

Has he had some injuries or a drop in form or doesn’t suit the way the manager plays ?

Don’t know, but it’s not the new system. He has been average all season, including under ten Hag.

I believe he had an injury earlier in the season, but if I’m honest I think he’s been asked to take too much responsibility too soon, same as Hojlund.

A hard watch made so much harder by Keown. What a complete tool he is.

Marmoush really impresses. Works hard. Got kicked and kicked again but kept going and very little histrionics. Khushanov having a good performance to settle him.

Can't say I'm embarrassed though. Orient were impressive and gave us a damned good fight.

You can see the person who is further offside than both Maguire and Zirkzee yes ?
The player that the linesman can see clear as day

I have circled him to help

This is where the rules I think let people down by trying to be too clever, by the letter of the law the circled player isn’t interfering, in reality he most likely is. I’m fairly certain with a simple offside rule, he wouldn’t be there or the linesman would have flagged.

Being a linesman is hard, having to see exactly when the ball was kicked and judge if a player is on/off (on a close call) is probably harder than being the man in the middle.

Was it a mistake? Yes! Is it right to berate them and call them incompetent….probably a step too far.

At times some are just not up to the job at the highest level - to be in position along the line and not being able to see the Man Utd players that are in offside positions is more than just a simple mistake

It’s someone being not good enough for the job

Or they have lost the ability to think due to the programmed way they are asked to keep the flag down until the end

If VAR was in place then they wouldn’t have needed the lines it was that clear

To be fair to Leicester they have a very good back line ( not heard that very much this season )
So should be easy to see four players offside especially the scorer.
This is the problem for me the Lino has just made a big mistake.
But at this level that’s not good enough.!

I hear those here saying that it’s difficult for assistant referees to see who is where when the ball is played but, with respect, this was a dead ball situation and he was looking straight across the line. It really doesn’t get much easier than that for a paid official.

At least three United players, probably four, were clearly offside. There was daylight between them and the last Leicester man. Any official who can’t see that should not be officiating at this level.

It’s just further support to the argument that VAR has made our officials lazy. They are way too reliant on technology bailing them out.
