On a serious note, is there any way that a referee can be found to be incompetent? Can they lose their job for just being crap at it (as oppose to because they bad mouthed a team and snorted some coke on camera)?

Every single time he has been involved in any of our games he has made at least one appalling and game-changing decision. But as far as I’m aware it’s not just us who feel this way. Other clubs fans say exactly the same about him.

I know it would not happen, but could clubs, either individually or as a collective group make some sort of move for a vote of no confidence in a referee?

I get that mistakes get made. But he absolutely takes the biscuit. He is literally not good enough for the job.

Yes they are assessed and if deemed to be not at the required level they drop out of the ref panel

And no the clubs cant get together etc based on referee calls during a game

It may seem that I'm just trying to argue with you today - but I'm honestly not.

I think its very hard for refs these days, he's clearly having a number of howlers this season but they're only human.

I'm sure there's refs making similar calls up and down the leagues, but the amount of cameras and attention on the PL every single small thing is blown into a wild accusation of not being fit for the job. At his angle of view, it may have looked like a foul. That camera angle has been selected for a reason.

We've had some shocking calls for and against us this year, we do every year, but until VAR steps in for every decision - throw ins, corners, fouls and non-fouls etc mistakes will always happen.

I for one enjoyed the FA cup game with no VAR far more than any premier league game this year, everything down to the ref on the day - he points to the spot and the goal is good. Feels like they step up their level without VAR backing them up too.

Maybe they also take into account all the decisions he gets correct? The decisions that fans, players and managers will completely ignore, as they spend all their time highlighting the one or 2 decisions they believe were wrong.

It is inevitable officials will make incorrect calls. I'm guessing they have over 100 calls to make per game, all of which they have to make a decision either way. They can't make the decision "I'm not sure on that one" and go for a neutral outcome after all. I've no doubt that if any one of us was asked to referee a Premier league game (assuming we were fit enough to do it), we'd be labelled as the most incompetent referee the league has ever seen.

Still not convinced Taylor is the worst of all referees anyway, I reckon that he has just become a bigger target based on criticism in the past and so he has become an easy target? I mean, who was the referee at the weekend who waved play on when a Newcastle player was brought down by Adams, and when Joelinton then hacked down his opponent a few seconds later, he stopped play, booked Joelinton and Adams, and then gave NEWCASTLE the free kick? Had Taylor done that, probably be all over twitter with various memes taking the mick.
 
I remember donkey's years ago Uriah Rennie was demoted due to poor performance. Not sure if it's happened since. The standard of all refs have plummeted since VAR came in though. They've all been undermined and don't back themselves anymore.

I'd say that every team has decisions that don't go their way in nearly every game, in which they thought it should go their way. Most of them probably don't lead to anything, or stop a major thing from happening, so it largely gets forgotten.

I watched the Utd game yesterday, and was cursing the linesman when he flagged Dalot offside (score 1-1 at this point) as he ran into the box from the left wing and had a chance to put in a dangerous pass (or maybe even shoot himself). I assumed he'd be miles offside, but replays showed he wasn't offside at all. Big important game, that sort of thing has legs for criticism. But, against Man Utd at the moment, it is largely irrelevant as the team are that bad that a few dodgy decisions like that really seemed to be pointless in arguing about. There are plenty of times where Utd players are getting barged over and often referees seemed to let play go, but when an opponent goes down easily they are instantly given a free kick. Moan about it at the time, but again all the attention is on how poor Utd are after the game that refereeing in the game is largely forgotten.

Incidentally, has Taylor only refereed 2 Forest games this season, and 4 last season?

Don't know to be honest, I try to mentally block out any games he's involved in.

Changing the subject, I was half expecting to see Ange get the chop today. How much longer does he have, I wonder? And who on would want to take that job on if he does go?
 
Got to love the Clickbait headlines from platforms like Talksport on their YouTube Channel. Today they have:

"He's A Loon, Imposter Or..." Simon Jordan BELIEVES Amorim is One Of Three Things For Man United!

Of course, you watch the video, thinking Jordan is going to be tearing Amorim to shreds. However, not the case at all. At the very end of the 10 minute clip, Jordan makes the statement in the title along with the third option "or he has a bigger picture and at the moment he is prepared to take the pain". After which Jordan states feels Amorim has a plan.

P.S. Keown is guest presenter today, so I'll probably watch one or 2 clips where Jordan rips Keown to pieces again, he seems to enjoy that very much.

No idea, but he is certainly getting moodier and moodier during interviews, so I reckon interviewers are going to try and wind him up more and more to get some juicy headlines.

He can be a bit of a loose cannon :ROFLMAO:

I reckon they must be giving him some leeway because of injuries? That can be the only reason surely!

Did you see the interview where the interviewer opened with a question along the lines of "Was that business as usual?"

The big whinge-bag retorted with "What a great way to start an interview".

Spurs are being dragged down towards the relegation battle, does he expect lovely, easy and sympathetic questions?!

Seems like a bit of a man-baby to be honest. He's turning into a charicature of himself.

Yeah, I had that in mind when I typed it (was on MOTD2 which I watched this morning).

Still, at least he always wins a trophy in his second season, so that is something to look forward to if you are a Spurs fan

Seen a couple of theories online - one, we're waiting until we're knocked out of the League Cup before sacking him. Two, Levy is waiting until after the transfer window to sack him so he doesn't have to buy new players for a new manager in this window (it's on brand for Levy to be fair). I don't really know. He should have gone a while ago, but a couple of big wins (Man City mainly and the League Cup run) have bought him time. He clearly doesn't have a clue what he's doing. His approach to games is just daft, and like a broken clock that's right twice a day, it occasionally catches a team out, but generally it's doomed to failure in this league.

The only reason I can think of the player going down is that MGW has dog breath and the player wanted to get away from it. If that is the case it’s a nailed on foul. 😖

I think he said 'familiar story?' i.e. being very attacking and losing the game, which is 100% accurate. And yes he's a moody stroppy little madam when it hasn't gone his way, which is nearly every game now.
