Maybe a foreign manager might 😳

It’s a big problem why managers do this.

Capello didn't tho did he? Standard shoe on Gerrard and lampard into the team when for example Gerrard with hardgreaves and then a j cole on the left would have been much more fluid than trying those 2

He’s only there because Saka is out. With that formation he’s struggling to get in the starting 11 as is Foden.

They will need to decide out of Bellingham , Palmer or Foden who starts in that 10 role against 90% of the opposition because they need to have someone sitting next to Rice to cover and that’s either Gomes or Mainoo with Gallagher there as well

Bellingham is miles better than those 2 in that role, the other 2 go missing.

Bellingham in an 8 next to rice with Palmer at 10

Unfortunately Palmer is in this ridiculous new breed that are left footed but won't play left wing.

True but I did think the press conference wasn't great and given he hasn't applied for the full time role https://www.skysports.com/football/...to-be-permanent-manager-but-wanted-no-regrets it seems he'd be happy to go back the U21 side
I pay less and less attention to a lot of media coverage these days.

It seems like 95% of the journalists questions at new conferences are often geared to trip up the person they are questioning, so that it gives them a nice, juicy sensational headline to write. And then it gets people like us talking about if for days on social media.

It is really quite simple. He is doing a temporary job for the FA. He may or may not get the full time job after the temporary period, and that will be up to the FA to decide. The FA have not told us their final decision, and they probably have not made their final decision. We and the media can speculate all we want, but in reality we will just have to wait to decide what the FA do and reveal.

Still, no harm is discussing what WE as individuals would like to happen. Some of us might want Carsley to have a chance, some might want Potter, Howe, Tuchel, Pep, etc. Just like we all have different ideas on what players we think should be playing, and what positions they should play.

Yes it must put a lot of managers off.
Thought had he been full time manager the reaction after the Greece game would have been far more savage. I wonder if like Keegan all those years ago he suddenly feels his is tactically weak at this level. Arguably at U21 level he is doing a very good job but maybe he doesn't feel confident taking the team forward. In the scheme of things these Nations League games aren't the be all but fail to qualify for the 2026 world cup will be massive

I keep saying it, football is in a mess, now the European leagues inc prem league are complaining about FIFA.
Which will rumble for years and no-one will get anything from it except rich lawyers get richer. Can't see anything changing soon unless players go on strike but would they really walk out together across Europe? Can't see it
