Erm because he is now dog 💩
I hate that "good experience to have in the squad" line, such a typical English backwards way of thinking, he'll be picking Gary Lineker next becuae he scored a hat trick in 86 :ROFLMAO:
Where's the progression, the forward thinking from Southgate? Nowhere to be seen, such a waste of talent over the last half a dozen years.

I agree Southgate lacks forward thinking and progression, but disagree with your comment of typical backwards English thinking. I’ve been pretty clear I don’t think Henderson should be starting.

The interesting thing for me in midfield is not the line up if all are available (albeit i would disagree with Southgate). The interesting question becomes who plays in Rices role if he gets injured/suspended. Henderson, Phillips, someone else???? Not sure I know the answer either

Edit: And for that reason he should rest Rice for one or both of this breaks games too ;)

I'm with you. Its easy for people who don't make the effort to say "look at where you are".
Anyway, the oppo tonight were pretty dreadful. Chatted to a few of the German fans after the game. I thought they were really let down by what was served up.
Sometimes it's easy to forget how wealth even mid table prem teams are, and how good the players are vs mid table euro leagues. They would be in the bottom 3 or 4 over here imho.
True… Moyes has spent £450 Million over the last few years, we bought Ajax’s best two players, tempted Paqueta to join us and bought Stuttgart's centre half… US… mid table West Ham!

John Stones

Konsa, Maguire, Tomori, Guehi, Branthwaite, Walker - loads of options

theyre options yes, not too many international standard centre halfs with a makeshift no 6 in front tho for my tastes. and if you use Walker then youre trying to find another 2nd choice for another position..... too many square pegs surely

good to see Anthony Taylor playing on until Leverkusen beat Qarabag lol

That won me £370! Already won big on Villa, Liverpool and Brighton but that was a bonus at 5.50. In fairness the second goal was in added time so adding on a minute was right.

Given it’s to cover if Rice is injured/suspended I think we have enough CB options available. Id leave Walker at RB.

just think Stones is our one top class centre half and would rather keep him there, likewise Walker at right back. is say Konsa and Maguire at CH and Stones in midfield really our best option on one injury?

As a fervent Moyes outer I will just point out that it’s never been because of the results, they are in the main good. As a paying customer I just want some excitement. Big difference tonight to some of the dross we have endured.

Anyway it’s not the night to be whinging…. COYI ⚒️

Great result and pleased for you, always want to see the English teams do well in Europe.

I get the negativity of Moyes as he is a coward at times but looking at your league position, squad quality and competition - who else do you think would do better and play great attacking football? It seems that now two of your key players are back you're looking decent. I know Antonio from his Reading days and him being back, even as a bench option is huge.

Exactly. Phillips has completely shocked me. I thought he was a good player , I thought him coming would provide excellent cover and comp for places. What with it being a world cup year and all he would want to make sure he went

He's been so bad and I just thought he would kick on or grind .. he just seems to be getting worse
World Cup year?

World Cup year?
Euros year, whatever lol

Moyes reckon in Europe for west ham looking very good thus far

Rice.

We only need 1 holder with the attacking ability we have in midfield and attack.

If we really need another holder, then Gallagher can play that role as can James Ward Prowse.

Henderson is a joke. A bigger one is coming when Mount comes back for United and Gareth finds him a place on the plane.

Awful.
Yes, but when Mason Mount comes back and is pivotal to Man Utd winning the Premier League, I think he'd deserve his England call up :)
