Going back a few years but imagine the team that Southampton could have had if they had retained the talent they were developing. I think they are a case in point that there will come a time when the next batch on the production line are not up to standard and that is when the trouble starts.

That Southampton team was the foundation for my greatest ever football manager save.

Good game .
I don’t think it’s a pen as he got a lot of the ball before player.
But have seen them given for the follow through at that height.

Diaz finishing today was woeful you just don’t get time to take a touch at this level
But he wasn’t the only one
Should have won but a draw isn’t a disaster!

Diaz reminds me of Suarez the way he dribbles, often looks unpredictable and numerous deflections but very difficult to stop. His end product is a level below his dribbling.

Yep.

We scouted some really good talent the last few years and have (at least) two players that will be going to pastures new before long;

Morgan Gibbs-White
Murillo

the former - yes we paid a pretty penny for him, but he's without doubt the most all round player I've seen at Forest in 20 years. He'll be sold for profit in the summer if we go down (and maybe even if we stay up).

Murillo has played 1st team senior football for about 5 minutes and is already one of the best CB's I've seen in some time. He will go to Madrid, Barca, City or someone similar for no-less than £70-75mil in the summer, I expect.

You could argue that Andrew Omobamidele, who we got from Norwich, will be off to a top half side in a year or so as he's been superb since coming into the starting lineup earlier this (calendar) year.

It's a real issue - but the circle of life for lower clubs - BUT if recruitment is solid and consistent and you invest that profit wisely, then you can do what the likes of Villa, Brighton etc have done in recent seasons.

Have to see what pans out tho

Fergie said ravel Morrison was one of the most natural talented players he has ever seen and he ended up a journeyman due to poor attuide

Then we had Reece Oxford. Rice before rice .. he bossed arsenal in first game of season, got too big for his boots demanded huge contract (which we gave) , didn't apply himself now plays for the mighty FC Augsburg

Looks very impressive, wonder how much Levy will back him in the transfer market to see if they can kick on next season?

I think if they get a CL place they'll back him heavily. Not sure how much the signings were down to him or the recruitment team over the summer, whoever it is they've made 4 top signings for under the cost of £100m.

Don’t believe a word of this absolute guff from Aztecs27, everybody. Murillo is absolutely awful. He won’t be going anywhere any time soon.

Will Branthwaite still be at Everton next year?

I don't know a lot about him, but heard people on here and various pundits giving him glowing reports.

Given I think Man Utd need to sign at least one young defender with high potential, I was wondering if he would fit the profile? Not saying he'd go to Man Utd mind, but he is a player that has come on my radar lately. Was think him and Martinez at the back could be quite interesting.

Or, will Branthwaite just be another Maguire type player. Show a lot of potential, but once he moves to a higher profile club, his flaws start to become highlighted more.

Branthwaite is an excellent player but I hope, for his sake, that he stays another year with Everton. That will give him a chance to develop further without the intense scrutiny he may get at other clubs if he has a big price tag around his neck. The price tag would be big, he won't be going anywhere unless the offer is obscene.

Ideally, he wouldn't go to utd, utd has become a graveyard for players in recent times and I don't want the same to happen to him. He comes across as a decent lad, I'd like him to do well. Saying that, he would get more practice defensively at utd so maybe he would develop quicker there after all 🤔🤣

I suspect either he or Onana will be sold in the summer. I'd rather Onana went out of the two but that's me 🤷‍♂️

Onana to arsenal apparently. Which is hilarious as he turned us down as he didn't want to play second fiddle to rice

Where is his confidence in his ability.. could pair with him or replace him in a year when off

The young lad Archie Gray at Leeds looks a proper prospect.
My mates a Leeds season ticket holder & he’s been talking about him for a while.

Yes, I keep seeing that rumour. Show us your cash Mikel and he's all yours. Decent player but not exceptional. If someone wants him badly, it will help balance the books.

Ironically he would be out starting midfielder now. Have to admit I'm glad he didn't come , not out of bitterness but if he came we wouldn't have signed Alvarez, and he has really impressed me

Who would you take of the names to back up sir Declan?

Really depends on whether Partey and/or Jorginho leave as to the likely recruitment. Expect Zubimendi will be close to the top of the list if hes prepared to leave Sociedad, Palhinia at Fulham definitely a decent option too. would be surprised if its Onana at the sort of numbers being floated, likewise Luiz

Still backing Arsenal to overcome Porto tonight fundy?

Backing them no, cheering them yes. Would hope we have enough based on the first leg but the longer we go without scoring the harder it gets. Think I read the ball was in play for barely 50 mins in the first leg and wouldnt be surprised if even less tonight! Good barometer of our improvement as despite how well weve done in league football last 2 years our KO form hasnt been anywhere near as good and Porto are very experienced in these sort of games and be interesting to see how we deal with the challenge. Much prefer we hadnt gifted them the late goal thats for sure.....

I would have him at Liverpool he’s a great prospect.
But he needs careful handling.
I agree he should stay there another season ,as long as you stay up.😂😂

Hope you win, I've backed you big time on one bet! Hopefully a quick start and a strong ref who doesn't let Porto get upto their usual tricks. They have a terrible record away from home in England so I think you'll do it.
