I'm not sure that Amrabat at left back is going to be quick enough to deal with the Forest attack this evening.

Another failing of the United scouting network.

Notwithstanding the fact he’s not a left back, he’s a quality player in his position but not in the Premier League. Whoever said he had the pace to play here needs to have a quiet word with themselves.

I rate him, just not as a left back. As a holding midfielder and back up to Casemiro/Eriksen/McTominay I think he'd be a useful squad player, but probably not as a regular starter.

Some great football from Southampton but they have squandered several good chances.
The fans must have no nails left watching them pass around at the back, but great football.

Unlucky to be one down.

Think Shearer’s a tad tipsy or something here if he thinks one defender shoving Rashford into another defender shouldn’t be a penalty. 😂

So you think defenders should be able to take the man, not the ball, with no attempt for the ball, clattering them into another player? Ridiculous. If it isn’t bias it’s extreme ignorance.

I disagree with your summary of the incident.

I think you’ll find most neutrals do too. But I could be wrong. 🤷‍♂️

How has Gallagher not been given a yellow for kicking someone in the ribs 🤷🏼‍♂️

This forum is hilarious; the digging people do to try and belittle Man Utd and Liverpool isn’t even slightly veiled. Hatred runs long.

I’m just responding to an incident involving my own team. The fact that it involves Man Utd is neither here nor there. It wasn’t a pen. Simples.

People can see for themselves. No attempt for the ball. Shoves Rashford. Clips his legs for good measure.

I see two defenders and one attacker vying for possession of the ball and the attacker going down easily when he realises he’s lost the battle.

EDIT: I agree to disagree. 👍

That’s very much a subjective call - could go either way , if it’s given it’s hard to complain but very soft

It does look like Rashford has lost control of the ball though before the challenge

I would agree with this. If the ref had given a penalty (IMO) VAR wouldn't have overturned it. And it works the other way, as the ref hasn't given it then VAR isn't going to overrule and give it. Correctly in my opinion as I don't think it should have been given as a penalty.

If the players were side by side there could almost be an argument that it’s two players going for a 50/50 and the defender just outmuscles the forward, but it’s just not the case here. The defender angles his run to take more momentum into Rashford as the other defender presses to sandwich him off the ball. It’s blatant and it’s very poor from the ref.
