Yeah. I'm not sure England need a player there like Henderson, just for the experience. I think they've loads of experience and confident players in that squad anyway. Assuming players are fit and picked, he'll have players like Pickford, Walker, Trippier, Maguire, Shaw, Stones, Rice and Kane who have bags of experience. And Bellingham plays like he has the mentality of a 38 year old seasoned pro.

So, 33 year old Jordan Henderson (who was never at world class level anyway, like a Pirlo type player) does seem like a wasted spot in many ways. Especially after half a season in Saudi Arabia (which sounds like a complete failure) and another half a season in the Dutch League (a league that apparently allowed Antony to flourish)
Totally agree except Maguire.😉

You are like David Brent in that episode where the smart graduate comes in, and he goes and researches something to impress the graduate, the grad then adds something else to the conversation that he doesn't understand, so Brent goes away to do more research, and comes back to try and show he knows it all, only to be outdone again.

Sheffield utd v villa is going to have to be a heck of a game to get ahead of the Newcastle game on motd. Crazy stuff.

Luton are a very different team now to the one early in the season. Not to be underestimated and with every chance of staying up.

Main question, @Norrin Radd how did Brighton do? 😄

Being reported Mbappe has agreed to join Madrid in the summer

Prob the worst kept secret that he would end up there

What are the local council buying from them this time to pay for this?

It's been muttered about for a while, no great surprise. It means Haaland isn't going anywhere though which will please City fans.

It’s a free transfer so just the wages to be manipulated

Could still be 4-4 in Villa game I suppose. Although 8-0 more likely

Mate is down to the last 3 of over 250 in a Last man standing comp. He picked Brighton today, one of the others picked Newcastle just left him needing Villa not to win for over 5k. Not even a sweat lol, he gets to go again next week at least :)

Jordan Ibe came off the bench to make his debut for Ebbsfleet in the National League today. Nothing special about that, until you realise that just four years ago he was playing for Liverpool in the Premier League. Has there ever been a bigger fall from grace than that?

Just read that he's suffered from mental health issues and depression in which case it's great to see him back playing professional football at any level.

I haven't deleted my post as it's good to raise awareness of these things but I will apologise for posting something that is insensitive without researching the background to it.

He left Liverpool in 2016

He has suffered badly through mental health issues , got hit by clinical depression during his last year in Bournemouth and then Derby

It all came out last year and seems that he came very close to ending it. Decided to try again but at the lower level where he felt he could enjoy it more

The first line was a jovial remark, I wasn't trying to be nasty at all. We all have our quirks, and your quirk happened to remind me of that episode in the Office, that is all. The second line was explaining why I thought that.

Had you gone on to read what followed, you'd have realised I'm not in complete disagreement with you on certain aspects. Bradley does look like a good player, and I also agree it is still very early in Mainoos career. But at the same time, getting excited about young players is sometimes warranted, as they sometimes do become stars very quickly and remain at that high level for a long time to come. So, if Mainoo has a great second half of the season following his promising start, then he shouldn't simply be dismissed from the conversation because he hasn't played in League 1 for a season.

Mainoo does look a special talent. He's got a lot of intelligence for such a young player and is one of the cleanest tacklers I've seen for a long time. He doesn't just make tackles, he picks the ball cleanly off the attacker which is extremely rare.

I think a lot will depend on how well Phillips does at West Ham as to whether he goes to Germany but I would take him over Henderson all day long.
