It’s true when they say the small clubs don’t get decisions
Or maybe the referee has played advantage and from his position doesnt believe City have the advantage amd has brought it back, as we've seen many times before?Have you!?
Even if the linesman thinks it is marginally offside, they don't raise flag. They then let VAR decide if goal scored, or raise it once chance is gone. The ENTIRE point in doing this is to ensure ref doesn't stop game.
So why on earth would the linesman not raise flag in this situation, but whisper to the ref to stop play anyway!? Or why would ref stop play knowing linesman not confident enough to raise flag? Makes no sense, and the impact of what they did ate the hostile reactions from players and fans for stopping a goal chance.
Makes no sense at all.Or maybe the referee has played advantage and from his position doesnt believe City have the advantage amd has brought it back, as we've seen many times before?
Or we accept the referees decision as we've previously been told![]()
Ok.Makes no sense at all.
Ref plays advantage, so ball is currently in play. Ball played forward to Grealish who is through on goal. Ball still in play. Yet referee ignores all protocol and stops play because there is a chance it might be offside as linesman has just said it might be on microphone.
EasyOk.
So the ref plays advantage, city score and its proved to be factually offside.
I'm sure any city player, staff, official, fan would be screaming for a freekick.
Or we just accept the refs decision.
That never happens.Easy
Turns out he was offside, you give the free kick as it turns out there was no advantage. Exactly as he would have done had he been miles offside and flag went up.
Not sure what you mean. That never happens.
Unless you win trophiesThey're not even the biggest club in Greater Manchester!!
Taking club bias aside, there's no way on planet earth City earn more as a football club than Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Bayern Munich. It's impossible.
Yup the linesman never raised his flag when Spurs were through until he shot. Then he raised it, so why go against what he did earlier in the game. Unless he is inconsistentHave you!?

Grealish had managed to get in behind 3 defenders, and referee was directly behind play, a long way back.Yup the linesman never raised his flag when Spurs were through until he shot. Then he raised it, so why go against what he did earlier in the game. Unless he is inconsistent![]()
What was odd was that Haaland got up from the foul and carried on and the ref seemed to let it go on. The overhead shot was the best. Which shows the ref letting play continue then he blows up.Grealish had managed to get in behind 3 defenders, and referee was directly behind play, a long way back.
I suspect what had happened is that when ball was booted forward, he couldn't see Grealish and thought City had lost possession. That makes more sense to me why he made that error
I mean exactly what i said. You think refs go back and give a freekick after play has been played on and the goal is ruled out for offside??Not sure what you mean.
It rarely happens, only because it is rare that a VAR offside call closely followed an advantage play. Having those 2 relatively rare events happen consecutively is very very rare.
However, the rule isn't "if onfield officials rule a player offside immediately after an advantage, bring play back and free kick to attacking side. But if player only found offside by VAR official, give free kick to defending team for offside offence"
That is just silly
If there is no advantage, Man City get the free kick. So, if linesman gave offside, Man City get free kick. Basically what happened, albeit the claim is the linesman only gave offside on the microphone to ref (or the theory given by some in here)I mean exactly what i said. "That is just silly"....... isnt that what you' re claiming should happen as its easy?

If offside was given by VAR, Man City still get the free kick. Because it is still true that there was no advantage to play on.
You're just making things up now. Perhaps you should highlight the rule within the Laws to back up this claim. They dont!! Decisions never get brought back after a VAR decision, ever.
No i am not. It's upto you to prove me wrong, if as you say it's within the laws of the game or protocol i'm sure there's loads of examples of previous incidents...You're just making things up now. Perhaps you should highlight the rule within the Laws to back up this claim.
Or point to an incident in which VAR gave offside, which occured immediately after the ref had played advantage. After which the referee completely ignored the foul and just gave possession to the offending team (I.e free kick to defence for offside)
Just point me the rule please. I'll give you a clue:No i am not. It's upto you to prove me wrong, if as you say it's within the laws of the game or protocol i'm sure there's loads of examples of previous incidents...
Since VAR has been imposed on football, i've watched 100's of games if football and i've never seen what you're suggesting happens.
I never ever claimed there was a rule.Just point me the rule please. I'll give you a clue:
Look in the section about Advantage. Show me where it says the referee can bring play back if it turns out there was no advantage as attacking team were offside. But this only applies if onfield officials determine it is offside, not VAR.
I have looked, and I can't point you to this fantasy rule you speak off. So please enlighten us.
