Am not sure he ruined him. He don’t give the ball away. Win more free kicks that any other player at City and helped to win the treble.

For me it’s simple, the movement of the England players just isn’t up to the standard of City players. I often thought Grealish wanted a clever run from someone else but it never came.

Only 1 vote short though, close thing. Neves in January to bolster the midfield?
Be the biggest bit of shithousery ever if we didnt go for him. Make everyone look really stupid.

Given the Mike Ashley years I still dont take any notice of potential/rumoured signings until they turn up in a fur coat in a snowstorm, drinking a glass of wine for dinner and run out on to the pitch an hour later.

So....I'm currently watching the U-21's against N.Ireland.

The Irish have set up defensively in a 4-5-1 formation and working hard to prevent opportunities...it is an absolute joy to watch the English lads try to work out solutions to the problems the Irish are posing. The balls are quick and sharp, players are moving, finding space between the lines, rotating positions. Yes the ball gets moved across the back ...but it's done with pace, doesn't get held up and within a couple of seconds is out on the other side of the pitch. Passes to players in tight positions are made without fear, sometimes they dont come off, sometimes they do. The players seem to be playing without any restraints placed upon them. Some of the players were in the U-17 World Cup winning squad from a few years back.

Its been the same when I've watched the current U-17's in the World Cup the last few days...the play is pacey, crisp, players always looking forward to see who's making runs and moving into space to receive the ball. Not afraid to try things. Wingers that have a trick to them and really work the full backs and try to go past them on the outside, committing them. The U-17's have a Man City player...Joel Ndala....from what I can see, Jack Grealish needs to have a few training sessions with him to learn how to play on the wing!!!

Some "big name" games in the QF's of the U17 WC...

Spain v Germany
Brazil v Argentina
possibly England v France (though Uzbekistan and Senegal might have things to say about that)
Mali v Morocco

They commented on the England goal last night that it came from movement from Kane which had been lacking before he came on. That said it was a corner. So you would expect movement.

Just seen on Twitter that my lot have beaten League One side Peterborough to progress to the knockout stages of the "Bristol Street Motors Trophy". Nope, me neither.

EFL Trophy- formerly Papa Johns, Leyland DAF, Auto Windscreens and many others. Played between L1 and L2 teams with some prem u21s thrown in recently

Why do people keep throwing out this pointless stat? Most free kicks don’t result in goals, even JWP (who is considered the best dead ball player) is only scoring 2 a year!

Most forward dribbles or passes don't lead in goals either.

If JWP was in the team, I'd want as many free kicks as possible. It isn't just direct goals, but crosses leading to goals as well.

Not about scoring directly tho is it? Goals from those free kicks aswell. He may score 2 a year on average but how many goals are a result of those dead balls?

You might get an idea from the number of assists JWP has. He takes a bit of stick from some saying he’s a one trick pony. Personally, I think he’s decent in open play too. No team in the (high energy) Prem can afford a passenger, and he definitely isn’t one.

So, proportionally, teams score more times from a set piece that they do from a moment within open play. After all, the team will have the ball in open play a lot more than they have attacking set pieces.

Every time West Ham have a corner, it looks like they'll score.

Mind you, England don't have JWP so it may be academic

If I'd been red carded for that I would have been extremely tempted to slap that Argentinian in the face as I was walking off.
At least the red card wouldn't have been wasted, then.

Absolutely scandalous.
