We’re barely out of September - give the fella a chance! I seem to recall De Gea was woeful when he started, and he didn’t turn out too badly.

First 2 months of the season be been woeful

He will miss 1-2 months for acon (after saying he wouldn't go)

So that's 3 months he won't help united in his first season for 45 millio

A pal of mine has posted on Facebook. She has been to the Utd game and said it was the worst performance she has seen at OT in 43 years.

She clearly missed many games during the Van Gaal era. They really were awful then.

I went to a few games in the autumn and early winter before he was sacked and made the conscious decision not to return whilst he was still in charge. I was spending good money and finding myself getting angry at games, not entertained.

The FA Cup final win against Palace was the only other game I went to during his tenure, and they were bad that day too. Dodged a bullet to win.

So new VAR protocols introduced after last weeks human error, whats the thoughts on this?

As much as it may be needed, i feel it's unfair on the teams that have fallen foul of the previous human errors/ incompetence/gross negligence. 12 apologies this seaeon and its only 7weeks old!!

The main question is, Is it fair to change protocols mid season? I dont think it is.
The integrity of the competition has been brought into disrepute for me.
I've read some rubbish on these forums but this one takes the biscuit. It's not working properly, in fact it's a disaster but let's not improve it or change it, let's just let it keep going......

Extreme exaggeration, based on the emotion of just seeing the game. It wasn't a good game, but I've seen many many more worse performances from Utd.

Mind you, if her last match at OT was 43 years ago then fair enough, she is factually correct :)

Are you sure you read what was said?

He said that it’s unfair to those who’ve been on the wrong end for them to change protocols during the season

And that opinion is ridiculous.

How is it unfair? Unless he thinks there is every chance that this massive mistake will happen another 19 times this season, once against each of the other 19 clubs other than Liverpool, thus balancing everything out?

It isn't like they are changing the laws of football. They are simply changing things to improve reliability of the correct decision being made.

Seriously???
What he said is ridiculous.
He’s also said it’s corruption.
Read Swango’s post.
He’s talking sense 👍🏻

Was it unfair when the entire league was suspended for COVID. Restarted and suddenly a lot of high intensity teams got to rest their players ...

Even pundits pointed out how it did Leeds a favour due to their high intensity style and it meant their players got a rest instead of burn out

The pundit you’re referring to isn’t Karen Carney is it?
If so 😬

She wasn't wrong for once tbh. If Leeds hadn't had that rest they would have burnt out playing that high intensity all season in the prem

They burnt out the following season
Maybe,but we’ll never know.
My mates a Leeds season ticket holder & it proper riled him when she come out with that 😂
The whole season has a * next to it tbf.

Interesting how despite the talk of progressive football, McTominay comes on, plays upfront and almost gets a hatrick in injury time! Football is a simple game over complicated by managers like ETH. What a mess Man Utd are in every area. Keeper another clanger, defence woeful, midfield unbalanced and nothing up front.

I have to say it was fitting Utd won it in Fergie time in the week his wife passed away though.

What’s your thoughts on Rashford?
Personally I think he blagged a massive new contract whilst in a rare purple patch.
He’s not good enough imo & that’s the reason UTD are where they are now,too many bang average players on massive wages.
How many current UTD players would be there under Fergie?

Looks like Bowen has agreed a new long term contract

Fantastic news

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a release clause in there?

Apparently there isn't one , but we have proved we won't hold players back providing clubs are willing to pay the value we set (just read he set to become one of the clubs top earners and such the release clause wasn't required)

Getting recalled for England also proves he doesnt need to leave to get international

Plus he has played European football for 3 seasons now so his career is trending the correct way

Does there actually need to be one? If the offer is big enough then the club will accept. All a longer contract does is up the price for West Ham, it doesn't really hold the player for any longer.

7 year contract reported, very happy with that. Like you say contracts just increase the price for us

Means we don't need to sort him out another deal for a long while ...

There is a need for one if the player has any desire to potentially play for a "bigger" club in the future, and they don't want the club they are contracted for to provide too steep an obstacle for that to happen.

I'm sure Kane was kicking himself he never had a release clause for his final, lengthy Spurs contract.
