Whilst qualify is very important, this is the chance to try something new and give the players who are going to actually play the chance to stake their claim to the first team shirt
Maigure is 30 so can still be claimed as in the plans..surely a 33 year old (will be 34 by the time the euros come around) not playing in a big league , Henderson offers little of what we don't already know? It was bad enough they called him up let alone gave him 90 mins
Bellingham and rice are the future
Surely foden or Maddison in the 10 with them behind and rashford wide would have been a better use of our talents
Finally from Jill Scott
“I’m a Jordan Henderson fan but now I know I wouldn’t be welcome if I wanted to watch him play football”
There is nothing stopping her from watching him play

You know exactly what she means Phil. She would not feel welcome, nor safe, in Saudi Arabia.
Really Phil is this a hill you want to die on?
You know when it was asked "What is a troll"?
There folks you have it.
She didn't say she couldn't watch him, she said she wouldn't be welcome. There is nothing stopping her from watching him play
I assume she would have felt welcome watching him play until now?! She clearly would not feel welcome in Saudi. It really isn't that tricky.
So yes I stand by your comment as trolling. You know what her quote meant yet used one of your precious few post count today to post what you did.
Have another go Phil. I don't think you'll find anyone who thinks you're being anything but.

It’s nice and simple- they are all hypocrites , her feeling “unwelcome” would disappear the minute work was offered there just like going to work in other Middle East countries
As for trolling - look in the mirror , bringing up post count , what is that if it’s not sniping and trolling
As i said hypocrites.
One of our friends here in Spain is a very athletic 40 something, prone to wearing long leggings and long sleeved tops. She’s also Yemeni by birth. We don’t see her too often as she travels the world whenever she can.
Last year she visited Saudi. She was stopped twice by the police. Once for being in a car with 5 men - part of the car sharing that is often done instead of public transport. The police officer was all for taking her to the police station ”for her protection.” Cue long argument, which was resolved when a senior officer turned up and said if her papers were in order she could carry on her journey.
The second occasion she was stopped was for not wearing a head covering. There is no longer any legal requirement for one in Saudi anymore. Another argument ensued. The religious police no longer have the authority to enforce any rules but it doesn’t stop them harassing females.
Her big advantage is she speaks the language, and she also knows the laws and customs.
Equally, she says Saudi is safe for women in terms of crime but you’re not safe from harassment by state officials. She’d happily visit again but she’s a very independent lady, well capable of arguing her corner.
There are a few on the WhatsApp group being lined up to defend him dw![]()
My mum lived there ( in Dharhan ) with my dad for a decade when he worked for BaE - they used to do the school run for the English and American kids - bus was stopped regularly and didn’t have any issues at all , the only time it felt threatening to them was after 9/11 and the attacks there
The lady golfers all go there to play each year and there are number of them that are gay
Jill scott was imo playing up to the media because he has been to the countries in the Middle East for work a number of times
Henderson imo made a poor choice and he will get people highlighting that - but when some point the hypocrite finger at him maybe also need to look at others
My parents were there, first time, from 53 to 58. Then 65 to 69, and then 76 to 84. I just missed being born there by a couple of weeks. My Arabic is pretty ropey now but a few weeks back there and I’d get by.
My mum had her arms spray painted - brain fart by her own admission for going out during Ramadan with short sleeves on. Would that happen now? I don’t know.
Working there short term, as Jill Scott did, is different than living there. Think about it. Hotel - restaurant - hotel - football stadium - hotel - and repeat. Female golf pros visiting for comps will do hotel - course - hotel, and will be there for the enhanced purse Saudi sports offer.
Personally, I agree with Jill Scott. As per my post, 45494, women are safe from crime but not from state officials. Imagine a non-Arabic speakers getting stopped. Our friend had no problem arguing her corner but a western woman not knowing the language and customs would feel very unsafe.
Ahahha Amanda a troll? One of the nicest posters on here? Jesus a new low even for you.

I have been there on a few detachments but we only really went out of the airports and compounds on the odd occasion - Bahrain was a different atmosphere
Your part about working their short term is exactly where I believe Scott was just trying to create headlines
Henderson will have to live with his choice but the ones that are continually going at him appear to have made him the scapegoat - ignoring the fact Saudi have bought a premier club and this week the Saudi National team played in Newcastle despite of course the club not being state owned
The enhanced purses on offer will make many forget any feeling of being “unwelcome” or morals and stances.
