But that’s just, it you would think Rice, Bellingham and Foden would be the heartbeat of that team for the next six years. How can they be when they’re not even on the pitch together. 😡

We are constantly told about players being "not match fit" and when their not playing full matches they aren't "match sharp"

Yet not training premier league standards (or another big league) and not playing competition matches is fine to start for England?

Dublin - "Bellingham was getting frustrated". Well firstly of course he was but, secondly if that affects his performance he still lacks maturity. How dare he at the ripe old age of 20!

Benching him won't help.

Have to say, Maguire is doing ok. I'm not sure if he's thick-skinned, thick or obstinate but he keeps putting himself in the firing line and managing the flack and criticism.

He doesn't offer much other than an old fashioned CB but I guess that's Gareth's kind of player!

I don't think he has ever offered more than an old fashioned CB so you know what your getting

England issues aren’t down to picking Maguire or Henderson - the squad and the team are full of players who shine week in week out for their club

Yet for England either they freeze and they suddenly can’t trap a bag of cement or go past a lamppost or the tactics employed are slow and predictable

The two best managers in football Klopp and Pep have those players playing higher line , higher intensity, direct , and with purpose. It’s safe tactics trying not to lose

What an absolute load of turgid dross. Always tempted to say I’m happy to secure a point away from home at any level of football, but the manner in which we have done so once again this evening will have fans turning off in droves.

Truly horrible performance.

International weeks are hated in England, I wonder why? Performances like that are enough to put you off football completely.

At least Henderson got a full 90 minutes. He was absolutely useless, but apparently he talks a good game. Meanwhile, rest the aging Bellingham

However you dress it up, Henderson and Maguire, have had enough chances in an England shirt to Win something. They havent. How that is progress in keep picking them is beyond me. Southgate is stifling players.
I could understand it if he played Rice, Bellingham and Foden in the middle and it didn’t work out. But there seems no chance of that ever happening.
Ave seen 13 years of brilliant football at city and 40 years or rammel. That is firmly in the rammel camp.

Problem with all international football is players don't know when to retire from playing for their country

But then going to the pensions league should be a clue

Did Beckham get picked in America?

He played for England until 2009 and went to the US in 2007 🙄

I know by continuing to focus on the fact Henderson was picked is probably allowing you to ignore the fact that 10 plus 4 subs other players that play in the Premier League were shocking out there

Having to carry a midfield never helps.

No one was carried - they all created very little of note outside the goal despite having most of the ball , only player who could say had a decent game was Walker who was excellent

The massively talented players that are supposed to be amongst some of the best in the world did very little.

Final minute and we kick a ball way off target back to a defender (yes Henderson that was you) then some short passing at walking pace...we mess about a bit and finally get close to the oppostion penalty area and the ref decides he's had enough and blows for full time. They usually wait for a hoof out of defence but he was clearly bored too.

No urgency.

In Gareth's defence (what am I saying!) it has long been wailed "why can't they do it in an England shirt" and I don't know the answer. Is it fear of failure? The fact the press will rip them limb from limb if they truly mess up? Or have we never had a manager who can manage a group of talented players, from different clubs, and make them gel and give them confidence?
