Maguire didn't leave man united, it was put out that his future with England was looking over if he stayed. Then he gets called up? Even tho we have centre backs available
Henderson? Sorry but he is in a retirement league. He should not be considered for England whilst playing there
Sterling? The bloke is in brilliant form, a proven performer for England yet misses out
JWP , now I've been a fan of his long before he came to us. Not saying he should start but isn't he exactly the kind of players you need in an international team? He can play RB in emergency, can cover the midfield.. good free kick taker and solid all round player

Been saying this for a long time, Amanda.
Southgate is way too predictable in his selections, way too conservative and far too loyal to players who are well past their sell by dates.
And if anyone points out our “progress” in recent tournament finals, I’ll say again that, with the talent at his disposal and the very favourable draws we have had, England under Southgate should have won at least one of them.
Sorry, but England are beyond boring to watch, and have been for too long. Unforgivable given the talent available.

I'm not a fan of Maddison but hoping to be persuaded otherwise. Not so far. Agree though he's too inclined to move infield and therefore no width on the left.

Perfectly put. In my lifetime we've had ok teams with one or two players of quality. The quality, and in depth, of the current crop feels like it's generational and it's being wasted. It's borderline criminal. Someone strap Gareth to a food van out of the job please!

The Scots must be rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect of playing this lethargic lacklustre England team on Tuesday. It is just sooooo slooowwwww. You know damned well that Scotland will be up and at England from the off and given their recent form must really fancy their chances.
So fed up with watching an England team with some of the best talent at their disposal just playing like its a Sunday afternoon kickaround with the kids.

I went into the kitchen to carry on with the chilli. Stuck my head back in when England scored, and will be going back into the kitchen when the 2nd half kicks off. As BillyB said, it’s boring. Bring back England ladies!

On a positive - pleased for Kyle Walker. A player prepared to get his head down, work hard and persuade his manager he's still got a place (Pep not Gareth)! He is of course still capable of a brain fart but seemingly less so these days

He is a very skillful creative player but not a wide player - needs to play as a number ten behind a striker or in a midfield three. If you replace Henderson with Rashford and then put Maddison next to Bellingham you might get him on the ball with more space but then he needs to track more

If I was to compare the men’s and women’s team managers I would put it simply like this.
One is getting everything out of there players.
One is getting carried by there players.
I will let folk have a guess which is which.

But that’s just, it you would think Rice, Bellingham and Foden would be the heartbeat of that team for the next six years. How can they be when they’re not even on the pitch together.
