Am not to sure, Sheffutd scored against City the other week, the ball was hit across Ederson. He made a full length dive and he never got to it. But he finished his dive by catching a Sheff Utd player who was offside. He wasn’t interfering. There would have been the same outcry if it had been cancelled. Didn’t stop City appealing for offside though

I would agree if your in the 18 yd box.
But it used to be like that and you could be offside by the corner flag with the ball on the other wing.
But it was black and white then. No first and second phase crap.

If defenders push out to play a striker offside he is interfering with their formation !
Thats what I have always thought.
Its up to strikers to stay onside.
The old rule was a bit silly at times but much simpler.
the rule changes have invented these problems.

I'd have said Haaland, but it's Messi and he finally won the World Cup so of course they'll give it to him.
I personally don't think it's fair that such weight is given to an international competition like that. Haaland for example has zero chance of winning the World Cup in his life, because he plays for Norway, so that makes it unfair. But club competitions are fair, because the top players move to the best teams and compete for the biggest trophies.
But again, it's Messi, so of course they'll give it to him.
