The barrier we were talking about was women managing men's teams and you asked why that barrier had to be crossed. That is a pretty clear statement that women should not cross the barrier into men's football but decent backtrack.

Give someone a chance and we will see if they have the skill. Plenty of men with less managerial experience have been given a shot.Hiw can you prove your ability if you do not get given a chance.

No you said it’s a barrier that “has to be crossed” - there is not a requirement for women to manage in the mens game , it’s not something that has to happen , you are talking as if a women “has to manage in the men’s game

And as stated - if a women wants to manage in the men’s game then prove she can by doing what most other men do -build up her career from either youth or lower league level within the men’s game

There are hundreds of coaches trying fight their way to the top

No club or country will see the experience within the ladies game as a reason to give them an equivalent job in the men’s
She was assistant manager at Sparta Rotterdam for a brief time at the end of 2016.

Ah yes - 6/7 weeks after internship at the same time being with Holland

The barrier does have to be crossed if women are to have equal opportunities.

Out of interest, and I honestly do not know so interested to see the path. What were Klopps junior positions before getting a shot in the Bundesliga

Klopp was a player at Mainz when they were in league 2 when the manager was fired mid season the gave him the job until the end of the season, he proved himself for a number of seasons until he then made a step up to Dortmund

Lot of good points but it takes the courage of one club to take the chance and one woman to take it to show it can be done and one woman to make a success of it to encourage more. Takes one club and one manager to be pioneers and start the ball rolling.
There is probably little point in making an effort to cross a barrier if there are little to no other women coming in to fill more positions. If it doesn't go well, which to be honest most male managers probably gey sacked at some point, then it even be a huge set back.

It would be interesting how many fans of clubs, who say they are all for women managing in the men's game, would suddenly change their tune if that job offer was made by the club they support. Would Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, etc fans embrace it, even if there where male managers out there with a good CV and known to play good football? I'm not so sure. Perhaps England are an easier team to suggest as most footy fans are more passionate about their clubs these days, but I still doubt many would go for it if Eddie Howe was a possibility?

As I said, growing the women's game might be more important right now. Instead of suddenly almost disrespecting the women's game by saying "well done, why don't you get a promotion to the men's game now", keep the talent in the women's game for now. Improve popularity of ladies club football, start making the managers and players bigger household names. Vastly increase young girls playing footy, and even schools and clubs giving them the opportunity to play. We may well then come to a more natural point where the crossover will happen much more easily.

You do realise how patronising that sounds when talking about a potentially world cup winning coach. Nice job love, let's see if we can find you something in league 2 or with the kids. Under 21 international level is reasonable but below that is insulting.

What?
Look, I hope we win. But the professionalism gap between women's footy and the men's game at the top is miles apart.

I know iit was a total clickbait headline but certainly one worth discussing. Southgate's contract is up next year, if he decides to step down (the FA would never get rid of him), should Weigmann (sorry if the spelling is off) replace him if they win the World Cup on Sunday. Surely it has to happen eventually and without the need to be involved in the transfer market, recruitment etc it would seem the perfect step to take. Based on the fact that there have been plenty of male managers in the womens' game, that would defeat the argument that the 2 areas of football are so different that the skills are directly tranferable. I say why not.
Good point. I was surprised that Chelsea brought in Frank last year as interim manager. Emma Hayes would have been a superb appointment. Her record with Chelsea womens team is great and I love listening to her on TV.

I’m in the belief that we are years away from a women being given a managers role at any professional team in the football league

Massive risk for any team to take and also a huge risk for the women to take as well
They could have tested the water with Emma Hayes as interim Chelsea manager last year. Wouldn't have done any worse than Frank.

That is hindsight though, really.

And, to be fair, if Chelsea never planned to have their interim manager long term, Frank may have been a good option. Things could be a lot trickier if they got Hayes in and then got rid of her as soon an a male manager they wanted long term became available?

Has there been any talk that Emma Hayes had actually registered any interest in managing a Premier League team?

It would be worth giving it her just to see that 😁👍

Would not just be that, as I mentioned earlier, the late night phone in crowd on Talksport would go nuclear. You can just see their red, enraged faces and steam coming out their ears as they scream down the phone that it has made our Country a laughing stock.

Talking to some City fans here in Athens. They have stopped doing Talksport because of the wind up merchants on there.
They reckon some of the guests and “ fans” ruin a good set up ( 🤔 bit like the Golf monthly forum). 😁Anyway whilst I was at the game The other night. Yeah City didn’t play well but some of the verbal Diahorrea coming from The City fans was painful to hear. One fan saying Foden should be sold 😖

A few months into last season, were you not all doom and gloom about how Man City were playing on here? Well done on your treble :)

How much experience has she got of the men’s game ? None as far as I’m aware and the reality is the game is vastly different in many areas
It’s not though is it? It’s just football.

How do you feel about the FA having women tutoring men for the highest level coaching badges?

I don’t feel any different if it was men tutoring them 🤷‍♂️

If that’s who they feel is best for the job and they have earned their chance through ability then there should be no issue

I wasn’t so much doom
And gloom. It was more Arsenal were purring. They were very good on the eye. Odegard was on fire. However. They fell like a deck of cards at the business end of the season.
Re last season when you look at Utd, Liverpool, spurs, Chelsea. At times they were shocking. City not far behind. Apparently the turning point for City last season was the draw v Forest. The players got together and had strong words.

Met a lovey kid out here in Athens. He works for UEFA doing their social media as I have mentioned a few pages back. That’s him In the background. For me that is UEFA moving in the right direction.
However we went to the UEFA fanzone the day before the game. In the wrong place and lord it was embarrassing. We were laughing looking at the DJ playing rammel Music. He looked like a scruffy dirty Rab C Nesbit “ on the Mic”.
If that’s the best UEFA could do it needs to outsource its fanzine experiences. 😖
