Hypothetically, she would have won the world cup. If there is need for some experience around her then that is where the coaching staff come in but she would be a proven winner and that would take her above most candidates.
Adding to this. Come
What May The English FA need to be proactive and offer her a better contract. She and the lionesses are doing a Brilliant job for women’s football.
SPOTY next year will be interring for the team of the year.

That can apply to a lot of coaches at a lot of levels. It depends at what level you place the current women's game at as to whether that gives her credibility in the men's game right now.

A reasonable point. My point in response is who you would compare her to when it comes to potential England appoiintments. The FA would not get a manager from a top club, cannot pay enough and the glory is still in the Premier League. Even mid to low level clubs in the Prem are probably more attractive than England and then you would still have wages and the cost of buying out a contract. So, that leaves you with a comparison between a coah at the very top of her game and an out of work or past their prime manager.

At the moment, if I had to put together my guess of the realistic managers for England after the Euros I would suggest you would be looking at Potter, possibly Moreneo and Weigmann

She’s doing well with the ladies because they have the best players.
That can’t be said for the men’s team.

I watched the first two games and the Lionesses were dreadful.
They played well against the Aussies .

How is she going to give some male superstar a rollicking in the dressing room with all the guys there bollock naked.
I think it’s impractable but not impossible as it would tick another box for inclusivity.

Maybe she'll do her job because she's a professional at the top of the game?

How do the men do it in the rest of the women's game? They wait for the team to change and then they go in. It ain't rocket science.

If she were to get the job, imo she's been promoted ahead of time.

The women's game is still somewhat semi professional. That's not her fault of course, but if England employed a gent who was plying his trade in league 1, there would be uproar.

Imo a "fair reuslt" would be to get a professional mens team position and work from there.

That being said, I'd say she had more chance at the England job than a PL role.

Let me get this straight.

Women don’t know as much about coaching because the woman’s game hasn’t been around for as long?

No. There are insufficient female coaches because the women's game hasn't been around as long, that's different. Those gaps were filled by male coaches. That will, and is, changing.

Because I suppose it it possible to keep your shorts on whilst the manager is holding a meeting after a match. Plus, not sure about you but when I played sport I did not sit around the changing room naked, I took my kit off, wrapped a towel around, showered, dried off, got dressed. Not sure anyone sat around the dressing room naked for more than a few seconds and we certainly did not have naked post match debriefs (pardon the pun)

The FA is her employer. She earns £400,000 a year.

The FA is Southgate’s employer. He earns £5,000,000 a year.

Equal pay?

I would certainly take someone who has managed to take teams to the final of the last 4 tournaments that she has entered rather than someone who has used a multi million pound budget and all of the support and facilities to finish 10th or so in the Premier leagure.

You are forgetting how Southgate got the job. He was the U21 manager, did a good job. Lee Carsley is the current U21 manager, just won the Euro's with them this summer.

Southgate was groomed for the job and they may well be doing the same with Carsley now. No friction between a boss and the FA if you are promoting from within. Particularly effective if that person has worked with players they will be bringing through, is used to qualifying and tournament football.

They also won't have to pay him a small fortune, unlike PL bosses, as we know only too well, Sven, Capello etc.

She’s not there to generate income.
Improve the product, improve the gains.

She gets what is required to hire one of the top women's coaches in the game. Southgate gets what is required to hire him.

If she wants more she will have to jump ship after Sunday and try to get a job in men's club football. That's reality.

Could Wiegman go for the U21 job with a view to progressing to the England job? Or would that be considered too much of a step down for her?
Why would the FA sack the guy who has just won the European Championship for them?

I get what you are saying, and had England bombed it would have been a really interesting option.

What income is Southgate generating?

You could argue she deserves more given the success of the ladies.

Ticket prices for games are very different, TV rights for games are very different, shirt sales for the two teams are very different.

Southgate has taken us to a World Cup semi final and a European Championship final. In a far more competitive environment, he has done pretty well. You can easily argue that in those situations we should have done better but that's been done before on here.
