Newcastle looked decent yesterday and Tonali is a player.
Squad depth might be an issue as the season goes on though.
Its something that will be addressed over the next couple of windows in as much as the various financial rules will allow. But already you can see that there are players who have kicked on from last season (Gordon, Anderson), youth players who look ready to make the step up (Miley), some of the youth that we've bought and sent out on loan (Ashby, Kuol, Minteh - though no guarantees that they will push on with their development), Isak will hopefully have a season less blighted by injury (only played 22 league games last season)...and that's before you get to the new signings such as Tonali, Barnes and Livramento (admittedly though the latter is an unknown quantity after his injury).

If we can get one more player over the line, preferably a left back, less importantly a central defender then that probably exceeds most reasonable expectations from this summers window. Other than that, weve got good competition for places across the pitch.

Newcastle are probably 18 months ahead of what would have been any fans most wild dream when the takeover happened. Cant fill all of the squad deficiencies in one go...but what we have already has noticeably more depth than last season.

Well there is going to be a red card in this

Fernandez a little lucky there

There is a reason why Carragher shouldn’t do Liverpool games -

And Antony Taylor keeps up his form from last season

Chelsea looking a far better team under Pochettino

Still can’t understand the handball rule

We still need to bring in someone for the middle of the park

Will take the point

New rules about the waving card is good - players need to sort it out
