Well that was abysmal šŸ˜‚ Newcastle fans disappointing too, only started singing songs at 3-1, expected a better showing from them.

If everyone can stop backing villa to be good now so we can go back to being underdogs that would be great.

Onwards and upwards
Early season nerves. Villa looked the better team for much of the first half and some moments in the second. Once you gifted us the third then things relaxed a bit.

A better team than us will put seven or eight past you if you continue with such a naive high line though. We missed several opportunities to put the ball in behind and obviously a couple of gilt edged chances went begging as well.

Tonali is going to be a beast in midfield. Looks like we missed out by not pursuing Diaby though....could have been a big upgrade on Almiron down the right. Still...we cant spend money that we don't have and the players we bought have done well and the improvements made to players like Gordon, along with the players we have coming through from the youth (Anderson and Miley) should do us just fine until January.

Still...the start gets harder with the next match away at Man City, followed by a home game v. Liverpool and then away to Brighton. Todays three points might be all we have after 4 games!!!

Were you in with the away fans? If so the sound can be incredibly deceptive. Newcastle fans will leave the stadium today thinking you haven't made a noise yet you may have sung all day. The same can be true in reverse.

The acoustics in St James are weird, don't be fooled by them.

Of course! They started singing after the third, clear as day, just very quiet until then.

I suppose it was a tense game till we gifted them the third (although great finish from Isak)

Tonali as they say up north… looked different gravy

Genuinely, someone at the other end might be saying the same about you guys. I've been in the away end, level 7, what a delight šŸ™„, and people have made the same comment against me. I've also had the reverse, thinking the away fans never made a sound. Speak to an away fan afterwards and they get insulted šŸ˜„.

End to end stuff, the Toon were clinical and you gifted them a goal at a crucial time. How easily they got behind you would be a worry though, it could have been more.

It was loud for first 5 minutes. After Mings got injured, it was deadly quiet for quite some time. Commentators also highlighted how quiet it was.

Having watched the World Cup for the past few weeks, the PL games seem like they are 2x speed

You forget how good the quality is.

Worried for Liverpool, if don't get a deal done, this squad is razor thin, could be another disaster first half of season.

I find it amazing he's turning down Liverpool for Chelsea

Liverpool are a bigger club with a better manager and have European football this season

Tonali sums up what I was saying about a defensive midfielder and how there roles have changed over the years. šŸ‘

in that case, I'd say it just follows the trend of the way the football "banter" goes on here. Negatives get much more traction than positives.

It’s exactly that

It’s funny that a player leaves the club that can’t win a trophy to a call that wins two of three trophies a season and his first chance of winning a trophy they lose šŸ˜‚

But he is England captain and has made a massive move so it’s going to be under media spotlight - sky dedicated 24 hours to him and every single program had a segment on him

I think he will do well over and I don’t except too many will ā€œwant him to failā€ - well maybe some Arsenal or Spurs fans - but that’s just rivalries
