Gyokores doesn’t strike me so far as a natural goal scorer, I may be proved wrong.
How many goal poachers are there now though?
It seems like a dying trade, maybe like the long throw it will reappear in a few seasons
It’s all about team work now.
Anyone just goal hanging would be dropped.
But take your point some teams would benefit from one.

I like the "injury +30 suggestion.

I'd also like to see the clock hard stopped whenever a substitution is made...so no matter how slowly a player takes to exit the pitch it has no effect, clock doesn't physically start again until play restarts and there is no subjectivity as to how much to add on....especially for substitutions made after the 90 minute mark.

Also I'd like to see any team who concede a goal being allowed to restart the game 30 seconds after the ball crosses the line....irrespective of whether the opponents players are all back in their own half and ready...would cut out a lot of the excessive celebrations with players almost diving into the crowd at the wrong end of the pitch.

With the resurgence of the long throw in as a tactic, we also need to see more discipline from the officials in getting players to take the throw from where the ball went out....not just starting their run-up from where the ball went out.
They need to stop all the subs on the line and back room staff running up to join in the celebration.

Following on from the poacher discussion, one modern, for want of a better word, I don’t fully understand is defending teams at corners.

You never see a defending team leave 1 or 2 players up at the half way line, instead they tend to bring all 11 back to defend the corner, but, imo, all that does is encourage the attacking team to leave one player, normally a fast or small player somewhere round the centre circle in case of a break away.

If, for example Everton were defending a corner and put 2 players up front, maybe 1 in the middle, 1 out wide, the opposition would in all likely pull 2-3 players back to mark them.

Yes it would create space in the box, were the approach now is to close it down.

Last night was a perfect example for me, when Lpool had a corner Arsenal had 10 players in the box and one on the edge, this meant Lpool brought 8 players in to the penalty area and left McAllister (I believe) around the edge of centre circle, if they’d of pushed Saka and a.n. other upfront, the likelihood is Lpool would of not McAllister on his own.

Just a minor thing I think about.😂😂

We did this in the 70s .
We had one of the best wingers in am football imo.

Manager said “ if under pressure just hit it down the left, Stevie will be there “
He used to stand on the halfway line almost in with the supporters.

He scored so many goals it was unreal.

Thought this about Salah at corners.
He’s not going to tackle anyone or win a header so he’s more dangerous on the halfway line.
And as you say “ occupies two defenders”

I keep seeing Conor Gallacher being mentioned as a possible transfer target. I thought his time in Spain was going well, he was valued out there. Does anyone watch Spanish football? What's the thinking?

Perhaps the general consensus is that English players want to play in the PL, and they know they would get a good return on the money they spent for him.

Time wasting/delays when subbing. Let the match continue, other sports do it. The player coming on can’t come on till the player coming off is off but the match continues. Damn sure he’d be quicker off the pitch.
So simple to bring in and would make a genuine difference to the nonsense that happens, particularly towards the end of the second half.

He’s doing fine, and gets plenty of game time. He looks very comfortable on the ball in La Liga. I thought he was settled but if Athletico want rid or he’s asking for a transfer…?

Maybe it's just paper talk, it just seems to keep cropping up. It's nice to see Brits doing well abroad, I hope he stays and keeps doing well.
