He only started 2 games in the prem last season with both of them coming after the title was won

Played around 100mins of football before that - he spent most of the season on the bench
He was injured in september at the beginning of the season, still made 18 appearances and played in CL, Caraboa etc.

Apart from the injury he’d of probably been more involved and struggled to get straight back in as yous were playing so well.

Might of been better saying his was surplus and slot doesn’t rate him.🙄

So he wasn’t a big part of us winning the Title

Across all comps he played 800mins

Before he was injured he was on the bench , missed 8 games and was on the bench when he came back

He is a tidy solid player , option of the bench at times , just lacks a little pace

Would do a good job at a mid to lower table team if he wanted to play week in week out

Careful using Logic that doesn’t compute with some fans on here who must always be right 👌

If Elliot was a Liverpool player, I suspect the typical Liverpool fan would be making arguments FOR Elliot, making him sound a terrific player. If anyone else pointed out his weaknesses and the fact he didnt play much, I'm sure the typical Liverpool fan would point to injuries rather than quality being the issue.

For non Liverpool fans, based on what we have seen so far, it would be interesting to know how many would rather have Elliot than Wirtz in their squad, with the assumption both will remain fit.

Under Klopp 23/24 season he started 29 games and sub 5 times, total of over 50 games that season.

He was definitely looked at as an important member of the LPool squad Slot inherited.

So either Slot didn’t rate him or his injury played a part.

Going on his 23/24 form you didn’t need Wirtze.

How he’s gone from being rated by Klopp to suiting a mid to lower league team under Slot is baffling.

That was two seasons ago under a different manager

We had better players for the midfield last year with the manager preferring the likes of Gravenburch

Think it worked out well

Yet he spent most of it on the bench in a season the team won the league

What was so stellar about his form in 23/24

In the 11 games he started in the league 7 came during the later stages of the season after injuries to players , his first start in the league didn’t come until Boxing Day

So it seems he was rated the same by Klopp - a squad player at best

I seem to remember it being questioned why Elliot wasn’t in the England squad, even tho he couldn’t get a game for Liverpool 🤷‍♂️

Probably why I said under Klopp.🙄

As I again said, not rated by Slot or injury impacted

38 Games in a PL Season, he played in 29, in the squad for all 38

In the 11 games he started in the league 7 came during the later stages of the season after injuries to players , his first start in the league didn’t come until Boxing Day

So it seems he was rated the same by Klopp - a squad player at best. Again out of 38 in Klopp’s last season, he was in the squad 37 times in the season before.
So ever present for Klopp in his last 2 seasons and rarely not used, to be in Slot’s squad (minus injury) and spent double the time warming the bench.

“Ever present” ?

Some one sitting on the bench and getting sub appearances for 2/3rds of the season is not “ever present”

That was no diffrent to last season when he spent the majority of the season on the bench

It’s very clear the last two managers didn’t see him as a regular starting playing in the Prem and CL hence why when he was looking to move on his options were limited to Villa and RB Leipzig

Elliot is a decent player , will be a good signing for someone

I’ve just looked through his stats. Very impressive. Which begs the question, is Wirtz really better than him?
Big Sam’s stats as England manager is 100%.
Is he really the best we have ever had ?

Stats can tell you anything.

But footy is played on grass not paper.
Elliot played in a very good team Wirtz is playing in a struggling one .
Wirtz is a better player imo.

I can see Elliott being stuck at Liverpool.
He isn’t good enough or done enough for a bigger club to come in for him and can’t see a lower side willing to take a gamble on him for the money Liverpool want.

Think he is an ok player but no more, always looks very lightweight to me and Salah is better in a tackle.
He also lacks a bit of pace but is decent enough with the ball and appears to have a good attitude.
Still young enough to improve though but needs to be playing regularly now.

He can’t play for anyone else this season so another loan deal is off the table so looking like this will be another wasted season for him.

Hopefully he comes back and is there as a squad player for the rest of the season

Hindsight is great but i bet he wished he went to Leipzig now but he wanted to stay in the Prem

£35mil seems a decent price for him

A decent price for Liverpool maybe but asking for it and getting it is two different things.

I don’t think a club would take a gamble on a player who has hardly played for at least 2 seasons and at most has been a bit part player before that at that price.

I can see him going out on loans until his contract expires or Liverpool half that price
