Both amazing footballers - such a shame they wasted the talent at times

Maradona prob one of the best I have ever seen

A guy that played alongside me in the Saturday afternoon amateur team played CB for West Brom on the day Best made his debut. My mate said he just couldn’t get near Best. To quote, “he was as fat as a gypsy’s whippet and twice as fast.”

Not a chance - no one else will have had a “suspended” sentence for a red card

It’s embarrassing - they have just created a precedent

Am sure it has nothing to do with the draw of Ronaldo and the money he generates. 🫣

Spot on, both of you. Not like FIFA to manipulate the rules when it suits, is it?

It’s absolutely disgusting.

Just seen the Everton incident - with the laws I guess the only thing it could be was a red card ?
It didn't have to be. He didn't need to be sent off if the contact was 'negligible'. I'd say that was pretty negligible. It was the lightest of contacts.

A yellow and a talking to would have been enough.

Gueye's reaction afterwards was far worse than the slap.

It isn't an opponent though, it's a team mate. The contact is negligible' against a team mate, no need for a red.

Doesn’t matter if it’s a teammate

2. Violent Conduct
This applies when a player uses physical aggression against another person — on or off the ball. Punching, elbowing, kicking, or fighting are common examples. The violence doesn’t have to be successful or during active play to result in a red card.

Agreed,if it’s against an opposition player it’s a red all day long.

Plus I had him to commit a foul in my Betbuilder,so it screwed that up 😡

Hmmmm. Wonder if this would have been the outcome had the offender been anyone else.

I’m amazed things like this go unchallenged. They don’t even really try to hide their lack of interest in sporting integrity really - it comes second to viewership and ultimately money.

Tbf he was shoved twice before he semi slapped / pushed back. Not with any great strength i might add.

It was called handbags back in the day.

A sending off might be the rules but let's be honest it was completely unnecessary and no one got hurt.

A word of warning would have been enough.

You're missing the phrase about negligible contact. Sky kept flashing it up yesterday. It's then a judgement, was the contact hard or negligible. The contact wouldn't have taken the skin off a rice pudding.

Common sense suggests it's a different scenario if between team mates or an opponent.

Guys can we tone it down a bit about my new Bessie mate Ronnie aka Ronaldo.
Tomorrow I am going to be assessed by Dr Paul Hurrion. And one of his clients is mah mate Ronnie aka Ronaldo. So be warned if you take on one of us. You take on all of us.😆
Ps. I suspect Dr Hurrion will
Say “ Tash yet a lost cause”.🫣

The rules don’t differentiate between if it’s an opponent or a teammate

So if it’a not a red card between teammates it’s not a red card against an opponent

And we all know common sense doesn’t exist within the ref rule book

Ultimately the issue is with the stupidity of the players themselves

Watching the CL on Amazon is a painful experience

There also some people that are decent as pundits but awful at co commentator- Alan Shearer a perfect example

No idea how Torres missed that chance - can also see a red card in this

Related to sporting integrity...

Just seen that. And whilst I am incredulous at the suggestion, I am even more baffled by one element of it.

England are seeded fourth.

😳
