Sitting here blubbing like a baby, watching the scenes from The Mall. As a kid I was literally football crazy - my Dad used to sing that song to me. Played from dawn to dusk with the two boys next door. Or until our cheap ball from the garage burst. Imagine if I could have played for a girl's team. Could have dreamt of playing for a living. Playing for my country. This England team are literally changing girls lives and leaving a true legacy.

I also finished a marathon on a broken tibia. It's likely I started with a stress fracture which progressed through the race. Adrenaline just about kept me going although finished in tears. Couldn't walk after that. MRI a few days later showed full fracture with separation and serious bone edema. Pretty much finished me as a competitive runner. So I imagine Lucy has a stress fracture. She's lucky it hasn't progressed to something more serious and ended her career. She may well have been prepared to take that risk - given her age and the joy this win has brought.

Anyway - where's the tissues 🥰
I didn't realise they were being given a "proper" celebration and I'm glad they did. And absolutely incredible turn out too...thoroughly deserved.

Yea, as Don said, we've had the Here We Go, but Fab's a shell of his former self, so I'll wait for Ornstein or the club to confirm.

Great signing (on paper) if so. Club clearly thinks a lot of him, as we've been after him for a while - and they've been pretty spot on with their recruitment in the Italian league the last few years (Milenkovic for £12m last year being the stand out).

Hopefully now the Gibbs-White saga is concluded, they can concentrate on bringing in reinforcements for him and the rest of the team.
40 million plus bonuses according to yesterday's La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Apologies, my bad. Forgot I was reading Italian paper. Circa £35million, I believe
Seems a reasonable price for a young, talented winger who can play both flanks...I don't know much about him but I'm very excited from what I've seen and heard!

Glad we're finally getting our ducks in a row. just hope the CAS hearing for the stupid Palace debacle is sorted one way or another sooner rather than later as the draw for the CL playoff round is next week!

I watch a lot of Serie A and he's always been a handful when he's on the ball. Runs a defenders which is what I like to see

I got home from Switzerland yesterday. After being there at Euro 2022 we'd had tickets for both semis and the final for Switzerland since last autumn. Being in Basel was amazing and I'll never forget it, but being at the semi in Geneva was something else entirely.

I work in Soho. Being sat in a meeting today, knowing how close I was but unable to go down and scream "2 times champions" again was grossly unfair!

Can anyone explain to me why people seem to be raving about Chloe Kelly? Granted, I did not watch any of the games. But from the attention she's getting you would think she won it single-handedly, yet it appears she couldn't even get in the starting eleven at any point. Came off the bench, scored a penalty in a shoot-out I think (when most players missed I guess), then in another game she had a penalty saved but scored the rebound. Were the other players not any good??

Have to admit I didn’t watch all the games. But from what I could see she was a bit of a “game changer”. Classic super sub. Very energetic when she came on, very creative, excellent crosser of the ball. Don’t know the stats but I think she came off the bench and assisted a couple of crucial match winners. Plus she hops before she takes a penalty! 🤣

England were totally revitalised every time Kelly came on. She was like a breath of fresh air in a stuffy room, direct and decisive in attack and delivering excellent balls in to the box and creating chances for others.

Opposition were scared stiff of her whenever she came on.

Yes she had that much of a positive impact, given that during the three knockout matches (QF, SF and Final) England trailed for a total of 170 odd minutes and were only ever in the lead for 1 minute across the 3 games (after Kellys 119th minute winner against Italy)

She's a class footballer.

Wonder why they didn't bother starting her in the final then. 🤔

I would say she was only a sub as Lauren James appears to be the managers fave. However Kelly wasn't dancing on the spot, or trying to be clever. She used her pace and energy and gave it her all, which isn't something I saw of James at all. She also gave some good end product and stood up to be counted.
If some of the others, or most of the men gave as much as she did we would be almost unbeatable, men and women.
