Is the Mbappe v Lamal debate just the modern age Messi v Ronaldo debate? Which essentially becomes absurd, because instead of talking about 2 fantastic players, people simply try and mock the ability of one player because they prefer the other?

True, Mbappe has played in a "farmers" league for the start of his career. But, he has been brilliant nonetheless. He has scored 56 goals in the Champions League which is decent. Also scored 22 in La Liga this year, with 3 assists. I gather Madrid haven't been great, and Mbappe has scored 1/3 of their goals. Lamal 6 goals with 14 assists.

I can't say I have watched either player loads (as I don't watch French or Spanish football), but they are both quality. I think any fan would take a 26 year old Mbappe over a 26 year old Walcott :ROFLMAO:

Mbappe is a very talented player , put him in the left channel and he is electric, issue with Madrid is Vinicius wants to play that same channel so they put Mbappe through the middle to satisfy the ego of Vinicius and even then Mbappe produces

If Madrid cashed in on Vinicius then moved Mbappe left and develop edrick through the middle then they will be significantly better

Wil Madird cash in on Vinicius? 20 goals in 48 games in all comps this season is a good return as well. Is it the Vinicius ego or simply the way the manager wants to play. Plenty of managers been forced to put round pegs in square holes to play their best side

I did find it unusual that Madrid were as desperate for Mbappe when they had the left-forward position already covered with a very good player. I thought they'd either look to see that as an upgrade on Junior, and let Junior go. Or, keep Junior, and try invest in another position in the pitch that they feel is weaker.

Sticking Mbappe on as a Number 9 just seemed like a method to try and fit as many high profile players in their starting 11 as they could, even if some of them are technically best in the same position. Mbappe is still good enough to get 22 goals in fairness, so maybe if they got a specialist No. 9 they wouldn't necessarily get that return anyway. But, there seems to be a lack of balance in the team.

I think many teams are set up to primarily get the best out of a star player, and have the whole team set up to do that. Too many players that are gamechanger type players can actually be detrimental. Too many cooks. I always see these "best teams of all time" on things like facebook, and they have Messi, C, Ronaldo, Ronaldo, Maradona, Pele, Best, etc. All great players, but stick them all together they'd all be diluted, because the play would be spread around them. Sometimes it is much better if the whole team have a clear idea of who their top player is, so when you need to score, there are no second thoughts on what ball to play when the time comes. Do Madrid have an identity issue? Are the likes of Junior, Mbappe and Bellingham stifling each other? I know Bellingham is a different player, but as he scored so many last year, is he ending up in positions that doesn't help Junior / Mbappe?

Bellingham is being played deeper this season to cover the loss of Kroos and also the lack of impact from Modric. Real are stacked up top too.

It was a no brainer to get Mbappe on a free and try him up front. It hasn't worked out too bad but they've got the option to sell Vini Jr for serious money, move Mbappe there and sign a central striker for a net profit. Big club using their status and financial power to their advantage.

If you'd said that about certain PL clubs you'd have melted the internet

I can see Vinicius ending up at Man City

Fills a gap for them - maybe some sort of swap with Haaland

If only England would play Bellingham deeper next to rice so we could get foden into his correct position or Palmer there
