From the angle that Pinseeker showed in that video, it looks clear and obvious that the ball moved just before his kicking foot hit it. From other videos it looks clear that both feet hit the ball, just not which one hit it first. And from another angle, it doesn't look like the standing foot hit it at all.

Videos that don't show something that happened won't be something to rely on, as they simply don't always pick everything up. From what VAR used, they've obviously come to the conclusion that it was a double hit, and said it is a factual decision, rather than subjective.

I suppose an Athletico fan and player will be gutted. On the flip side, if that penalty was scored against your team, and VAR didn't act, then they'd be accused of going out for a coffee break, and what is the point in having VAR.
I worked on a lot of Footy pitches over the years and the penalty spots are the most worn part of the pitch.
The turf there is the most replaced part of it.
Because they practice from there . ( maybe not at this level)
It’s why players tap it down to check how firm it is.

The turf can move under your foot when you plant it and moves the ball you don’t need to touch it.
Seen players delibaretly scuff the spot but only in the second half just in case.

Its not his foot hittng the ball, but he struck the ball and then the ball touched his standing foot.
Yeah. Hard to tell if his standing foot hit it first, as some videos seem to suggest it did, others don't show that. But, definitely appears it hit his standing foot after he kicked it as well.

I reckon he was probably trying to blast in into the left hand side of the goal, and his standing foot deflected it more towards the middle. He was probably hugely relieved it went in as it wasn't executed as he expected, and then gutted VAR was there to check it.

I wonder if they change the rules on penalties as a result, to ensure this sort of controversy isn't repeated in the future? Allow an accidental double hit, like they changed in golf a few years ago?

Get the donkey off and move Garnacho up front. How can someone go 20 games without a goal and start in such a big game?

Why such a long VAR check for a decision which is not a clear and obvious error? A soft penalty, sure. But not a clear and obvious error. Not even sure why VAR got involved.

Suprized VAR didn’t look at the Spurs player in an offside position right in front of the keeper for Madisons goal.

Coms never even mentioned it but he looks right inline.

Bruno has to be one of the most underrated and underappreciated players of this generation. Gets nothing but stick but churns out world class stats and remains the best penalty taker going.
He’s absolutely wasted at Utd.
Put him in a good team & he’s top drawer imo.
