Big fan of Rice but have to say it was embarrassing seeing him celebrate like that when it was only 1-1 in a must win game. Time was running out too. For one of the most selfless players and captain of the club, no idea what he was doing..

See you will think I'm hard on rice because he left the club but my being harsher on him started long long before he left us.

He was an outstanding CDM for us. Really top draw. That was 2 seasons before we won our trophy. The season before that we start playing him more forward, pushing soucek back because rice wants to play the more advance role . Have to keep him happy... Soucek gets really stunted in the role. Exposes us a lot. Much more solid when rice sat and protected the back line. But no wanted to be Stevie g. Then noble retires, we make him captain in attempts to keep him happy. Really not ready for the role. His off the pitch behaviour on golf life (mucking about on roof of a buggy) come on. You are a professional footballer. Behave.

Then when we are mid relegation battle the season he is our captain he is out being wined and dined by Lego head.

When we played arsenal with him in the team he is all pally with saka for example who had won a foul off him and he trying to talk to him like their friends but saka is playing him.. rice is too naive. When your playing against someone they aren't your mates. End of the game they are. But they will cheat as much as normal.

Same when he plays at the Emirates against our away support..he seems to forget the bed he made for himself. The home fans don't mind him leaving but the hardcore away see arsenal as a local rival, if he had gone to Liverpool or city or Madrid no I'll feeling from them but a local rival.

Declan nice nice baby needs to get that single minded winning mentality or he will be an also run throughout his career

I think one of his weaknesses is he's too nice. You obviously know him as a player better than me though. He seems caught between offering too much to sit back and do a basic defensive role in midfield and actually being a top class attacking midfielder. He looks heavy and clumsy on the ball in attacking areas generally, although he has a great right foot and top class crossing/finishing.

This season he's been let down by the lack of class Arsenal have had out wide and upfront, plus Odegaard is having a really poor season. Rice has tried to do too much and been a bit exposed IMO.

I was just shocked he celebrated like that given the circumstances. I think the pressure got to him as he's been getting some stick and that came out when he scored. He should've got the ball and headed back for the restart.

I stand to be corrected but my dodgy memory thinks you absolutely loved him, posting on here, when he was still with West Ham.

The season before he was made captain 100% but when he turned up on golf life I started to go off him as a personality. Larking about on top of a buggy doing Spiderman webs? Sod off. You could get Injured.

Still rate him as a very top player however he has developed into far too nicey nice with no killer instincts. I mean he tried to use the "dark arts" and gets instantly sent off because he's terrible at them. Too obvious. Plus should have gone to club that's challenging for Europe and the league, whilst arsenal COULD Liverpool and city ARE / were

I definitely was very very pro rice in 2020 euros when everyone was raving about Phillips when it was obvious rice was doing all the donkey work allowing Phillips to look better than he is (which has proven since who is the better talent) but back then he was doing the sitting back job rather than trying to be Stevie g all the time with his hero runs

Once he started attempting to take all of our pens and corners (which he was terrible at for us btw) it was all building his stats rather than for the team and that annoyed me.

100%, doesn't have the top club mentality still after 2 seasons at a "big" club for us sure that is spot on ... Celebrate that mid table result

Think that is harsh. He scored in the 74th minute, not the 89th. Plenty of time for Arsenal to score a winner.

Shaming players for celebrating a goal is a bit OTT in my opinion, especially when they were losing and probably had a build up of frustration up to that point.

Arsenal players certainly know how to celebrate a goal

Wonder what they will do when they actually win something

A draw was no use to them - all that matter was getting 3 points , as soon as he scored it should have been about getting the ball back quickly to get the second goal not shushing Man Utd fans

My mistake. I guess it's a compliment to Rice as he is always the one running their midfield and being very vocal that I thought it had changed!

Have you not seen the rice Arm lift? Whenever a goal goes in he just waves his arms like ahhh guys

I think Rice is a decent player - he's just a complete plank. So desperate to be liked and really does want to be the centre of attention - drama queen. Shame as it detracts from his qualities. Seriously athletic, skillful enough and can drag a game by the scruff of the neck with his energy.

This is spot on

£40mil ?

That seems very cheap

At that price can see a number of clubs looking at him

Would suspect also Man Utd would need to offload a lot of their deadwood first due to PSR issues
He is not going anywhere for £40m.
Contract till 2027
Just had a wage increase.
No release clause.

For what its worth, I think he'd struggle away from us. We now play a system that suits him. He played for 2-3 seasons pre Glasner in different systems and looked lost and out of his depth.

If any of the top 4-5 are serious about a player, it is Adam Wharton you want. Best midfielder I've ever seen at Palace, top top class.

Luckily Moyes has 2 strikers that suit him at Everton as he was PERFECT Antonio replacement under his system

Still think he would thrive under potter however 40 million I doubt he will be available for anything that low

Really impressed with potter. The way he speaks in interviews .. really wish we had got him in during the summer. Perfect replacement for Moyes after he did a fantastic job

Like I've said before I wasn't unhappy at the time j-lo came. Would have preferred potter but I'm glad we took the plunge and it's proven the correct call
