The Footie Thread

I watch EPL matches from the stance of an impartial bystander…in that I do not have an English team in any league that I have any great affinity for…maybe Chesterfield a bit, and if pushed my EPL/EFL team would be Leeds…and that simply from my childhood Bremner/Lorimer/Harvey/Grey days.

I find EPL matches generally dull as dishwater to watch, and no amount of confected excitement and admiration from the commentators fools me. Matches in lower leagues are undoubtably better to watch…and as much as Scottish football is nowhere near the same standard (light years cf the EPL)- it is often harm-scarum and error strewn - but it can be fun to watch.

No he is dead right, the goalkeeper was way too far over. The ball went in teh middle height of the goal and at least 4ft from the post. Shocking from the GK. Both teams were poor and scoring seems to be beyond them mostly.

Now Redknapp is useless, spots absolute shite and should be not near a footie match ever again

I’m not saying he doesn’t make some good points, he does. And I agree regarding the United goal.

It’s how he makes those points. He really does struggle to string a coherent sentence together.

No intention of getting the ball, it's a wild swing at the legs. If the ref gives it, it would not be over turned. As it was he got away with it.
He's actually made a genuine attempt to play the ball.

If the ref had of sent him off, i'd expect it to be overturmed just as Lewis-Skelly's was against Wolves a few weeks ago.

How dare you suggest Liverpool get more than their fair share of penalties. Like I've said before I thought Salah's name was Salah Pen not Mo, such is it's frequency on the score sheet
Hilarious. Salah statistically gets fewer fouls than his peers in the same position.

Curious to know how you know the ref was considering a yellow, Tash.
Coz that’s what the commentary said 👍 they also made a point of asking why ref never went back and booked him once the ball went out. They then made another point that if the ref had booked him he would have to send him off for his later booking. 👍

Great win for the Villa on Saturday night.

Still absolutely loving the league this year, so many twists and turns and so competitive.

Need to keep this run going for the next few games, massive one on Wednesday night this week!

Ave said it since probably the start of the season ( and I include City in this) week after week there has been upsets. Granted Liverpool have deservedly run away with the league, but every one else below have been taking points off one another. Some clubs are playing beyond expectations. Others saw playing well below, it has helped level a playing field. For me it’s been a good season to watch other clubs as a neutral.
