Under the current system, where they spend "hours" messing about drawing lines down from the armpit/nose/backside/knee/chest to the ground, on a 2D screen representation of the situation being decided upon, I do not believe for one minute that they know exactly how far downwards to draw the vertical line so it intersects with the pitch, in order to provide a fair comparison with a body part that is at pitch level. The line from Peter Crouch's armpit is going to be a lot longer than needs to be drawn for Dennis Wise....its guesswork at best.

For that reason alone the measurement criteria should be the position of the feet touching the ground.

Also, one of the biggest battles on the pitch is the timing of a strikers run and a defender "stepping up". It is perfectly feasible when a striker to be running to wards goal that his natural body lean may mean his upper torso is goalside of the defender, whilst his feet are "well onside"...my personal view is that that is a well timed run, and should be rewarded.

Just my opinion.

This. With bells on.

@Bazz - I really love your honesty about your club. It's refreshing, even if it's a depressing read!

Football really can break your heart - mad as that is.

They say the lines are calibrated. They'd have to be calibrated both to ensure they are parallel (to the goal line) AND run along the surface of the pitch. If a human is trying to judge the bottom of the vertical line, then to me that would immediately make it unfit for purpose.

I assume the only part of the process that is subjective and up to VAR is the part of the body they draw it from. Especially when that part of the body is the shoulder / upper arm

All of it on here is just our opinions, but not every situation is a player running through.

VAR hasn’t been popular since its introduction and, imo, has improved but still got some way to go, hopefully the semi automated system will improve it again.

On a purely personal opinion, I get more frustrated with players cheating or feigning injury etc than I do with the time VAR takes to come to a decision, at least they are trying to get the decision correct.

Rashford and Garnacho not even on the bench.

One has a future at the club although his recent form has been patchy. I suspect the other will be gone by the start of next season.

I think I may have alluded to it during the week, but I just get the feeling Amorim will be nowhere near as tolerant with underperforming players as his most recent predecessors.

That's how it should be 👍. When managers are weak on that front it's how the rot sets in

I do not believe there is any way that such vertical lines can be drawn with accuracy unless the system knows exactly how far off the ground Crouchy's armpit or Wise's knee is.

I'm annoyed at how much I let it impact me, wish I didn't care as much as I do, but it's too late now.

I remember the tears so many times. There's a book "Blue Moon" which is a really good read about our 98-99 season in the 3rd tier of English Football. Anyway, at the back there is a section where City fans recalled their emotions at the play-off final. One fan wrote about how, when we went 2 down and seemingly done, he looked down at his young son who was in floods of tears and thought "oh my god, what have I done to you" and a part of his heart for City died in that moment. I got that. Me too. Self preservation. I couldn't keep allowing something completely out of my control to impact my emotional status every flipping Saturday, every single fixture.

To this day that has stuck. It wavered severely for the 2011 Cup Final and maybe would be different if we continued to be rammel (in Tashy's words) but definitely not shed a tear for them since...

I'm not even a season ticket holder and mainly a telly clapper!

Well, it didn't take long for Mount to get injured!
Poor sod, he just can't catch a break.

If he didn’t have bad luck he’d have no luck at all. I really feel for the fella - he was excellent when he came on in the Europa League on Thursday.

I completely understand that, my two haven't shown much interest and I'm not about to force it upon them either. Just let them enjoy their weekends.
