I cant believe you think sky sports and alike are actually good value

You really just play devil's advocate all the time because no way on god's earth can anyone think sky is good value.

Do you not see what you can get with a Sky subscription

How many entertainment channels
Kids channels
History channels
Documentary’s
films
Sports
News

And then all the on demand box sets

It is loaded giving people more choices than what was seen before sky

Yes it’s very good value when you consider how much it is to go to cinema to watch one film , go to one sporting event , how much a single Blu Ray costs

Nobody is talking about that at all tho. You can get most of them with free view. You don't need sky

Nobody is comparing films. At all.

This is about football. Nothing else.

It's crap value. Fair too high cost to watch what you actually WANT to watch.

It’s not Phil,it’s full of repeats & 90% rubbish tv.

So around £27 -35 a month to watch hundreds of games of football is not value for money ?

I think it’s outstanding value for the level of sport that I watch

If you don’t think it’s value to pay £300 a year approx for all that sport then don’t buy it

🤣

Yeah ok Phillip,

To watch the lot it's not just sky is it..it's tnt and prime. That's another 35 a month

And you can't see all of your own teams games.

If you want to watch F1, tennis, golf, cricket then it's ok value as you can watch that aswell but If you have zero interest and just want to watch football in particular your team then it's crap value.

Which is why people will go to IPTV. Under £100 a year is by the by you can bet your house people would pay £50 a month if it meant they could watch ALL of their teams games.

You’re just repeating yourself now Phil.
Can I suggest agree to disagree 🤷‍♂️

But I’m just talking about Sky Sports

Sky has just alone 139 premier league matches -

West Ham had 13 matches on Sky last season - so for £300 you got 13 matches if you just watched West Ham

If you want to watch every single live match then you will need to pay more for it

People go to IPTV because it’s cheaper that’s all , modern society of wanting everything but not paying the required rate - streaming illegally is not comparable

So for under £50 a month you can get both TNT and Skysports and watch everything that both channels provide

It's nothing to do with price. It's the option to watch all your games.

£300 for 13 games? That's crap value.

Or £100 for 38 games?

You could triple the price of IPTV to £300 and then compare it again

13 games Vs 38

You could make it £500 a year..

13 games Vs 38

13 games is rubbish

Of course it’s to do with the price - that’s what decides the value of something

Why do you keep bringing in something that’s illegal - it’s cheap because it’s illegal , it’s cheap because someone is illegally broadcasting from outside the UK - if IPTV was legal broadcast then guess what the cost will be - more than Sky

I’m sure the clubs will be happy to allow subscriptions to just their teams , of course if you are ok with the reduced income from the media rights , which mean less money into your club which means a drop in standard of the players you get to see which means a drop in standards of the product

If you want to watch all 38 games of West Ham then go and pay the £1600 for a season ticket , plus all the away tickets as well

Not to mention the other £300 per year your you MUST pay to Sky for a lot of stuff you probably don't want if football is your primary reason.

Sky's subscription model has knowingly been broken for years, if not decades. BT introduced the option to subscribe only to TNT sports and, from what I can tell, are making hay on that. Sky still force you to have a base package that, in the current market, makes no sense.

To be fair you can have just sports now via now tv for £35 a month. Which is better than having to have sky TV just to be able to get sky sports

But you still need TNT sports and prime to get everything

Your looking at £75 a month to have access to all the games available in the UK

for that kind of money they should have the option to watch your team only. Just you have an option to select your team but then your locked out of other teams games. So you can either pay for sky sports or you can buy your teams viewing rights for the year

That would be great 👍

Just out of curiosity, I'm perplexed by this argument. Why should you get access to all of your team's games for £75 a month. How much is a season ticket to see all the home AND away games? And should you get it cheaper for the convenience of not having to travel, not having to pay for outside catering.

How does that stack up in equivalence?

Price it at double and reduce the cost for season tickets.

This is about TV , the overpriced ticket prices is another issue but reduce them.

Charge £150 a month if ness to have the option to watch your team on TV.

The fact that you can live abroad and for a small cost you can watch all your teams games legally (which is all IPTV is broadcasting, TV from another region) but because we live in the UK we can't access TV to our own clubs

Let pubs show the games , get some trade in them.

I believe there is now options where you can just get sports packages etc

The basic TNT package isn’t far off the model sky one with sport

There used to be ways where you can just get the football etc and not the rest and pay less

Yes, it's about TV. But it can't be discussed in isolation WITHOUT ticket prices being part of the discussion for comparative purposes. Regardless of whether they are too high as it stands.

I'm not for or against the idea of per team subscription here. And I don't think that Sky necessarily provide terrible vfm in the football area (although it should be better after the loss of 15% of their package proposition), but a model for all fans would be skewed by how it equates to the cost to "see live". Should Aresnal fans pay more per month for the same televised product? Should Ipswich fans pay less (just picked Ipswich as a smaller team, no idea of their ST costs).

The broadcast complexities also need to be factored in. How many transponders would be required, how much additional bandwidth? How many additional broadcast licenses? Who pays for that? I think I know the answer.

Would you be ok with your club then only getting the money from the people that subscribe only to West Ham

Yeah, PJ pointed that out but I though we were specifically talking Sky here. Now is a separate entity.

With Sky, there has never been a way to get Sports (or movies) without having a base package first. Early doors it was to do with transponder usage and licensing. But that changed in 2008, once again, Sky didn't move in line with the new ciscumstances.

Sky own now TV , they are one and the same company
