Totally, agree. If there was any interest in a competitive league from top to bottom, you would have an annual transfer fee and salary cap (not a cap on individual fees or salaries but just a cap on the total). You would then have a level playing field but it would never happen. That would be the only real way to take money out of being a deciding factor in league placing.

I genuinely don't know what the answer is to it all. I don't think I'm calling for salary and fee caps.

But there's something rotten with the system when, in order to try and compete, a newly promoted club is punished for spending money (that they can safely afford) to build a squad - the total value of which which amounts to less than the average worth of 2-3 players who can't even make the starting 11 of a Big Six team.

Agree, that one is something that basically keeps the top clubs at the top table being sold as a scheme for financial prudence. My view is that if the club wants to spend the money and the owners are willing to pump it in to the club without creating debt then do it. If PIF wants to give Newcastle a couple of billion to spend, I have no issue. If money is to be the deciding factor in football, take the gloves off and let people really go for it.

My tongue in cheek suggestion was one to actually introduce financial parity. Set a cap for transfers and wages based on the average affordable amount. Take out the top 4 and bottom 4 clubs from the equation to stop any outliers blurring the position then let everyone spend the same. That would give a league where funding would play less of a part and skill, ability and management would take over.

Would be funny if this reduction was a pre-cursor to getting fined 4 points for the other charge.

Fair play though. Strangely, although I've wanted Everton to go down in the past, I now want them to stay up because I think FFP is rubbish.
After selling Richarlison to you at half price you tell us you wanted Everton to go down, shame on you sir 😉

You make that sound like it was a generous thing for Spurs to do! I'm not sure you'll have too many Everton fans showing their appreciation.
I don't care. We deferred any fees specifically to help with their FFP issue, and in return they blame us and the Richarlison deal for their failings!

Half price? Most people said we overpaid as it is. And we gave you Dele Alli for basically free before that!

You got two lumps of deadwood off your wage bill. Think you did really well out of the deal, and you’ll get the fee out of Everton’s parachute payments 🤣

To be honest i put FFP firmly in the camp of VAR. It’s a good idea. But the implementation is rammel.
And guess what. UEFA are changing it again and the Prem League may well follow. So a club / Business has a business plan which has now gone tits up coz the financial rules are changing.

As a neutral if Spurs had paid what Johnson was worth when they first went for him. Forest would now not be in trouble re FFP.
Now am not blaming Spurs coz we know Levy drives a hard deal, but why is the cut off date for each FFP Season in June. Basically the middle of the transfer market. Why not the day before the season starts or the end of the transfer window. Again FFP Not fit for purpose

I don't understand there why they don't do a test case scenario with City, take the worst 5 charges and play them out. If City are found guilty of those then go back to the others. If they are not guilty, drop the others as a waste of time. It looks at the moment as though the PL are being smothered by the number of City charges and this is dragging the case out for ever and a day. Surely it is time to actually test the water with some of these.

I believe the charges are not with the Prem now -it’s been handed to an independent panel to go through to recommend the punishment if the charges are upheld - it’s out of the PL hands now

It some way its a good thing because there is not going to CAS or appeal after the findings

Paquata returns tonight. Last seen providing a killer assist to Bowen to put us 1-0 at Bristol city first time round.

Only disappointment in the line up is zouma still in over the much better aguard. Him and Dino's would make an excellent partnership but never get a chance due to zouma being shoe horned in

Different league at a different time.

They bottled the league to Leicester under poch.

They didn't have Liverpool, City and Arsenal all on for 85+ point finishes.

Emery has had far more success and is far superior a manager.
Just a curios question.
Why didn't Emery do for Arsenal what he has done for Villa.
By the way, I really enjoy watching Villa, a great side. Except when they play Brighton! 😊

They were waiting for the appeal before looking at the second charge. Hopefully this helps us, although part of me thinks they will give us a 4 point penalty for the second one to get us back to 10 points. Paranoid, moi 👀
Just shows how poor their decision making is when they have to backtrack like this.

Will make Citys punishment a bit less 🙈😂
