Worst 45 from an England side in years I can recall. Absolutely useless. Malta had a higher xG than England.

Henderson might aswell retire now, so far off the pace it's untrue. A right back looking lost in midfield too. Rashford trying to give the ball away at every chance. Only Foden has turned up. If you're going to doss around, play two upfront and make it entertaining.

Had tickets for tonight and decided to give it a miss after golf. Wise decision

I’d sack GS just for playing Henderson.
Why is he sticking with a player who was average in his prime & now playing Sunday league in Saudi?
He must have something on Southgate 🤷‍♂️

Why aren’t the commentators saying the obvious, Henderson is out of his depth now, just retire with some dignity.

The sad thing is that this does not really come as any great surprise. And even more sad is that there are still people who defend Southgate because of his “excellent tournament record”.

England under Southgate are desperately conservative. The lack of creativity with the players at his disposal is absolutely unforgivable. Bellingham is the one bright spark.

I am sure I am not alone in saying I am absolutely sick and tired of seeing players played out of position, ahead of players who play in those positions and are in form at club level. I will give Maguire a break for once because he has been in decent form for United. But Marcus Rashford has absolutely no business being anywhere near this squad, never mind the starting XI. He has been abysmal this season. And the debate about Henderson has been done to death. A baffling decision to continue to include him.

But the fact we keep qualifying with ease from easy groups will keep Southgate in a job. And when we witness another glorious failure next summer his supporters will remind us all, once again, of his fabulous tournament record. Despite England winning zip.

What I don't get is that this game is pretty much a free hit....the group is done and dusted to all intents of purposes, yet we play with doubt and conservatism, seemingly afraid to take risks with early balls and players rooted to the spot and unable/unwilling to move and give players options.

My ever growing fear is that this wonderful array of talented footballers that we now seem to have at our disposal is simply going to be wasted through lack of ambition. Not ambition to win things, but simply ambition to give them the freedom to make the most of the collective talent when they pull on the white shirt.

I'm beginning to side with those wishing to see the back of Southgate.

With Players like Bellingham,Kane,Foden,Saka we shouldn’t be worrying about keeping it tight.
Go out & outscore them.

Totally agree. Most managers would be rubbing their hands with glee at the sheer talent England have in their ranks. Not Southgate, who time and again fails to play to his team’s strengths.

It’s utterly depressing to watch.
