But why is VAR so difficult? Surely it’s a guy with a JVC video recorder that he can rewind and play slo-mo and freeze. And then a couple of felt tip pens to draw lines on the screen.

Ok it’s a wee bit more complicated, but only a wee bit. A computer screen, the ability to rewind, freeze and draw a line on the screen. I just don’t understand all the waffle. Train an existing ref how to operate the computer, and give him an audio link to the on-field ref. “Mate, have a look at. Final decision yours.” End of.
Why not just remove the need for anyone to say anything? Offside is binary, not opinion. Change the programming that once the lines are drawn, have a "confirm" button. If it turns green, send a negative signal (not offside) and if it's red send a positive signal (offside) to the ref's watch (a la the goal line).

There's no need for anything else once the system has analysed the final image and set the lines.

I've just read the transcript. Can we see it in English? No clarity at all in the discussion, no wonder it went pear shaped 🤷‍♂️

these clowns are making the calls in a multi billion pound sport😂
It’s like something from a Seth Rogan film where they’re are sat around smoking weed 😂

And to make it even worse….
96th min own goal 🤦‍♂️😂😂

Seems very strange to purposely have a "rule" that they can not correct an error after a restart.

After all their remit is to intervene on clear and obvious errors that the onfield guys have made/missed.

This is actually one thing I sort of agree with. If you see the ref on the pitch as the final arbiter and VAR as an assistant then once the ref in the pitch has made the decision, right or wrong, that is the decision.
