I was surprised to see the ref at Villa park stick with his decision yesterday, 1st time this season a ref hasnt changed his mind.

Over 50+ referrals by VAR to refs last season and every decision was changed after they were sent to the monitor.

We were all pretty stunned tbh. However, the review took so long it clearly wasn’t ā€œclear and obviousā€ so they never overturned it.

Was fully expecting it, but it never came!

Thats never happened before.

Random Football Irritation- Arteta , he appears to come across with an arrogance that’s normally associated with a top class manager that’s picked up multiple trophies .

Arteta has won an FA Cup and that’s it

His latest explanations in regards the GK situation- he clearly doesn’t see Ramsdale as his number 1 yet hasn’t got the balls to just admit it , talking about how he was tempted to sub Ramsdale during games because they are no different

The whole situation could really blow up in his face

I agree its silly.

You've got to assume that Ramsdale isn't happy about it either, I cant see him lasting till this time next year at Arsenal if he's not starting the majority of games.

I think Arteta’s experience in terms of trophies earned is a red herring. If he’s good enough, irrespective of trophies earned, he’s good enough. He doesn’t have to touch his forelock to perceived great managers. He’s took an inexperienced squad, some used to say poor, and he’s took them up a couple of notches.

However, he comes across a bit volatile for me but, I guess, so is Klopp & Pep in their own way. Do I think he’s handled Ramsdale well? I think not, but I only know what’s in the media. I’d love a crystal ball to see what Arteta will achieve. A bit of me thinks he’ll do well as he gains more experience at the top end of the Prem and, subsequently, in Europe. But I can also see him having a meltdown. Potential genius bordering on fruitcake for me.

I was pretty unimpressed with Pep at The London Stadium on Saturday, during the 1st half he was getting frustrated, he was ranting and raving, wouldn’t stay in the coaching box, one stage he was even on the pitch remonstrating about something. 4th official hardly did a thing to stop him. This was right in front of where I sit (albeit 20 yards back) he was every bit as animated as Arteta… 2nd half when it was all going to script he sat himself down. 😁

A bit like Rodri then getting away with things others get booked for.

Have they changed the guidance to handball???

Last year, they only went to VAR if it hit the hand of the player who actually scored. Now they seem to be asking ref to review handball if it hits any attacking player, even if the pictures aren't exactly clear

No. They make it up as they go along. VAR has ruined football.
Apparently VAR thought it was deliberate. That sounds garbage, at least to think that with any certainty (and still not sure it even hit his hand/arm anyway)

However, if they ruled out goal for a deliberate handball, is that not an automatic yellow card offence?

Handball was a shocking decision in my opinion.
If they think that's deliberate, they've never kicked a ball in their life.
I’d have been livid if it had been the other way around, granted. But we’ve been hard done by twice this season for similar levels of calls, so I’m not upset we finally got one go our way.

Scrappy tonight but 4 new signings bedding themselves in on their first game, two of them never playing in the Prem.

Montiel at rightback was awful. Sangare had his moments. CHO looks a bargain for £3m.

Finish the week on top half after playing 3 of the ā€˜big 6’, can’t ask for much more. We’ll be fine.

In fairness to Forest the goal was top drawer and deserving of a point.
Could be a long season for Burnley, it's always a big step up from the Championship to Premier league.
