Roger me with a prize winning leak. I pop to my 85 year old mum’s for a coffee, arrive home just after the fixture list is announced, and already the first tranche of tickets for every United home fixture with the exception of those going to ballot has been sold out.

Getting tickets for games since Covid and ETH’s appointment has become nigh on impossible, even for club members.

Can we have a football random irritations thread please?
Father in law won’t be best pleased then. He thinks his £65 United membership gives him a chance

It’s slightly easier to get tickets if you go on your own. But I invariably have one or both of my kids with me, and getting seats together can be really hard work.

The problem is that members go online the moment the tranche release is announced and snap tickets up for every home game regardless of whether they can go. They do this knowing they can return them nearer match day. The season isn’t all sold out just yet - just the first tranche of tickets. I have always signed up to receive notifications when new tranches are released, but the notifications never come.

A number of the bigger games go to ballot in the old fashioned way but they are massively oversubscribed so tickets are hard to come by. Probably his best chance of tickets will be European or cup fixtures.

I’m lucky as I have a mate with season tickets and he regularly allows me use of them for a fee. The alternative is to ring the ticket office direct - they have an uncanny ability to be able to source tickets for long standing members when the website suggests fixtures are sold out.

Ten or fifteen years ago securing tickets was relatively easy as they all went to ballot. I rarely missed out unless it was a big game. The new way of doing things, combined with a new manager, the post Covid hysteria of wanting to attend games again, and an online ticket portal which is absolutely not fit for purpose, can all result in real frustration I’m afraid.

Honestly one of the greatest moments in premier league history and absolutely iconic commentary.

It's unlikely there will ever be a moment for me that can top that. It was typical City being City and was becoming heartbreaking. The goal, the jubliation, the commentary (I swear you'll never see anything like this ever again) coupled with the face of Phil Jones and Alex Ferguson as the news hit them...just beautiful. So City...

You've become come-back merchants since this game too.

I do love it when things come down to the last day, just adds so much more entertainment!

The only other thing is that the caretaker becoming the permanent manager rarely works and so maybe the owners have shown some steel there. Very harsh on O'Neill, he has done a great job and deserved a crack at it imo.
"On 27 November, having picked up 13 points from a possible 33, O'Neil was appointed as Bournemouth's permanent head coach, signing an initial 18-month contract."
