Difficult to tell, but he’s definitely approaching the lino in an aggressive manner. Robertson shouldn’t be anywhere near him.
If the linesman believes Robbo has said something then it’s simple - go to the ref and let him deal with the situation

The linesman reacting like that is poor - I suspect he won’t be officiating at any top flight matches again

Oh i bet that was a lively household in the 90's/00's

For the record i'm a Oxford United fan, not a Manchester United glory hunter like the majority of them in and around London.

Yeah got in trouble plenty of times when I was a kid, invariably was expected to be at Spurs for games a few times a season, in the players lounge etc and expected to be on best behaviour, lets just say i fell short of the mark a few times. When Spurs won the UEFA cup in 84? as an 11 year old I more than crossed the line lol

Dad worked for and was friends with many spurs players and latterly some at chelsea too, almost as if he was spiting me back haha

An Oxford fan! I feel for you, was at Studley Wood for a no of years and several of the guys there were suffering Oxford fans!

It’s certainly worthy of investigating Brian, I agree. But I do think that bottom bit of footage Phil has posted looks a little suspicious.

We’ll see what happens but if the linesman suggests he was merely shaking himself free of Robertson’s grip I’m not sure much will happen.
I agree Robbo should not be touching him at all.
I watched it very carefully.
Robbo goes to get hold of his arm but the Lino tries to stop him by lifting his arm.
He actually pushes Robbos arm up a bit , then looks down at his arm like he’s offended.

bit ott by the Lino, but Robbo should not be confronting him.

That's ironic as my old man worked at Oxford!! I had a similar upbringing although got to see back to back league title wins 3rd and 2nd divisions.

Football has changed since the highs of the 80's and its been a rough ride at times but they're my team and always will be.

I love watching the PL and CL teams though. Games like today is what top level football is all about.

He usually is, i was surprised at him calling Robertson a baby as it is out of character for him to leap onto the sky bandwagon.

He has previous of screaming at officials when decision's went against his side.

I think he made a rod for his back... He went too early with the "baby" shout then couldn't back track when he was obviously wrong.

Just watched the footage of Robertson versus the linesman. Some footballers truly are pathetic creatures. If the lino gets banned then I'm another step closer to giving up on pro football.

Don’t like Robertson. He’s right up there with Bruno Fernandes when it comes to whining. I know match officials really don’t help themselves with some of their decisions but some of these players must be a genuine nightmare to deal with.

Roy Keane, he's box office!

😂 interesting from Keane , guess he had blanked out a lot of his actions from when he was a player and also a manager 😂

Anyway - the linesman has been suspended until the investigation is done.

Don’t think will see him for the rest of the season.

Mmm. I’m sort of on the fence with his attitude. Yes, he can be to whiny/spikey. However, I want player to have a passion for the game and be willing to fight. Equally, I don’t want to conflate the fact he can be a bit of a… with the (potential) fact that he’s the one that was wronged here.

Going beyond that, if this linesman is a liability, I want it sorting.

I don't like Bruno Fernandes. But if the situation was Bruno and this Lino I'd be backing Bruno. Robertson is obviously having a moan (rightly or wrongly) but what the Lino does is wholly unacceptable and I fail to see how anyone can say otherwise, just because they don't like the player?

Agreed. It was just the strangest over-reaction. Players can't surround officials in a threatening manner yet do so constantly. Something amiss for this official to react like he did. If he can't deal with the whining and histrionics of the typical pro footballer (or at least top division pro) he needs to rethink his career choice.

I would go totally the opposite way.
Top pros should not be phisically harassing officials.
just look at the effects it’s having in the lower tiers of the game.
Its putting people off being a ref.

If somebody runs up behind me, shouting and swearing, then grabs my arm, I will be making a rapid movement of my arm to break their grip. If they've been stupid enough to get inside my personal space such that my arm movement catches them then it's their own fault.
It wasn't a sustained attack. Lino didn't even break stride, just flicked his arm up to get the player's hands off him.
It's my team's first season back in the PL for 23 years and I've not enjoyed watching some of their antics. They're amongst the worst for the petty time wasting and falling over, so I'm trying not to be biased, but certain teams and their managers are stepping way over the line with the haranguing of officials. PGOL need to grow a backbone and stand up for their guy.

None of the videos show Robertson running him behind him and grabbing his arm

Hmmm. Not actually sure I said I was backing the linesman because I don’t like Robertson.

What I said was that I don’t like Robertson, and that players like him must be a nightmare to deal with. Nowhere in there do I actually condone or condemn the linesman’s actions.
