There are moments when Haaland just takes my breath away. Against Palace where he chased a rebound down and got to it with such pace and power - he really is a beast. Defensively we've been even more shaky than usual this year and maybe it will take a season for the team's structure to adapt to having an all out centre forward having played a false 9 for so long...

Oh and for sure he isn't the prettiest on the pitch :) He also sometimes looks like Bambi and that he hasn't got used to how long his legs are! Even when he looks awkward and tangled feet he gets a shot off on target. Love him!

A few mins after Haaland went off, I stuck on the ps5. The game was not worth following after that. Fair play to City though, basically played great footy for about 70 mins, then could just chill out. Good way to conserve physical and mental energy.

Oh yeah...dont disagree, totally understandable. Not sure if Haaland was aware of possibly beating the record for most individual goals in a CL game but even if he wasn't, the opportunity for a player to notch a double hat-trick is rarer than hens teeth. I know the game is about the team rather than the individual but I'm not sure I'd have walked off the pitch smiling quite so much....I'd have been begging to stay on for just ten more minutes to see if I could bag another.

I'd have done a full Cristiano Ronaldo. Kicked the ball away, strop off the pitch, throw my shirt at the bench, walk down the tunnel, destroy a kids phone on the way, have a shower and go home before the final whistle. Then, when I get home, post on Instagram "What an amazing result, City Forever!", with multiple pictures of me scoring the goals, and even more pictures with my top off.

So Ave now got time to comment on last nights game.

Tash is 60 next week and as a surprise my lad booked us 2 tickets for the tunnel club. I dint know about it til we was walking in the main entrance. Lordy flippin Lordy what an experience. I looked at the menu and ecided I would have the southern fried chicken burger and I asked if there was chips with it. The waitress said you have all six main courses. 😳😁 . They were Tapas sized. Anyway the players arrived and it was special, the pre match light show was just unbelievable and outrageous.
Re the game, that was City at their ultimate best. As good a performance as I have seen.
Once more VAR plays its part, once more it bogs me off. The game was stopped and everyone around us is wondering what is going off, we thought it was for a challenge by KDB and is the ref looking for a straight red. Nope it’s an iffy penalty. Brill if your at home on the settee coz you know, but once more fans at the game haven’t a clue.
Re the comments on Haaland and City changing their style of play. They didn’t last night and he scored 5. But break down the goals.
1, a penalty.
2, a rebound off a KDB wonder shot that came off the bar.
3, a tap in from a Dias header off the post.
4, and 5, balls pinging around the box that he leathered home.
What was obvious last night was his movement, it is just phenomenal. For goals 2 and 3 he is following up other players attempts at goal.
City who have struggled for centre backs this season played with four. 😳
Just glad I went and had a fantastic day watching a fantastic game.

His 2nd goal was brilliant
Chased the keeper down, ran back on side, followed the shot in like all good strikers and finished.
Power,awareness,clinical.
Unfortunately for some they just can’t see it.
When City bought Grealish he was Villas talisman, give it to him and he made things happen.
Give him the ball now and he generally goes backwards or falls over.
That’s not Haaland fault.
As for the argument regarding CR7 there’s a massive difference between 20 goals a season and 40

Mrs BB has just brought a totally new dimension to the Haaland debate.

“I don’t care how many goals he scores, he’s really ugly.”

Well, quite.

When i read about ugly footballers, it always reminds me of when Crouch was asked what would he be if he wasnt a footballer, his answer "a virgin" !!

Thing is a false 9 dosnt score them goal’s because he’s to deep.
Haaland is a proper CF imo. He’s where he should be in the six yard box.
he scores all types of goals.

I would have reminded Pep he was on the cusp of history with 6 goals in the CL
But Peps not interested in records and a good manager does what’s best for the team.
Still wouldn’t be happy though:(

This with knobs on. I'm watching my lot with balls flying across the 6 yard box and no one there to put them in. The same applies to so many teams. It seems few want to go old school and stand in the right positions to score. They seem happier, I know they are not, to just set up someone else, hang back for some unknown reason.

Sterling, for all his faults, scores so many goals by just being around the back post and tapping the ball in. Nothing fancy, no great moves, he just stands in a good position.

It seems to be a reducing art, the act of standing in or around the 6yd box when the action is up there.

Yes this was always my thought with Firmino at Liverpool.
great player and his work was fantastic but he didn’t score lots of goals.
so you gain the link up play, but you lose a poacher in the box.

I would rather have a goalscorer everyday over another false 9.

It all depends on what’s around the false 9

In Firminos case he was surrounded both sides by Salah and Mane who were scoring the goals

it shouldn’t matter where the goals come from and a false 9 or someone like Firmino gives the team a lot more flexibility

Having someone a “number 9” will need everything built around him to build for his strengths

Kane is one of the closet that you can find who can provide both

Yes we’ve debated it before .
I see both sides of the formations and how managers see their teams.
I just preffer a out and out CF.

Unfortunately Ave not got all day to have a good natter about last night but I have never seen so many “ tourist” fans at a game. We called into the club shop after the game and the money being handed over was unreal. Lad in front of my son bought 3 players shirts at £100 a piece, plus an arm full of other bits. The queue was massive. All looked like they were having a good time.
