Just looking at the BBC report of what is being accused:

• City refused to cooperate since investigation began in 2018
• Did not provide accurate financial info, including club revenue, sponsorship and operating costs
• Breaches to provide full details on manager and player remuneration
• Breached rules related to UEFA FFP regulations, and PL rules on profitability and sustainability

I'm curious that, if any club simply failed to provide the full details required at any given time, there'd be immediate automatic penalties anyway? It almost sounds like a club could completely ignore all communication with the PL, never submit any financial info, wait for the PL to charge them 5 or 6 years later, and then just have a really strong team of barristers and solicitors ready to go.

Totally agree, there's only one way to hurt a rule breaking team and its not money

Bans from Europe/ cup comps, point deductions and relegation should be the on the cards.

Look what happened to Glasgow Rangers...too big in Scotland for the most severe consequences?...well only just. Some would say that the most severe (and in some opinions the right, others the wrong) course of action would have been the new club starting in the top level beneath the Scottish league - instead the club new club was essentially relegated to it's bottom division. But pretty calamitous for the club nonetheless.

Of course in the global picture MC are a very different kettle of fish to Glasgow Rangers (though they are probably equivalent in the context of the very small Scottish picture)...but there could be a good number of very significant European, as well as English, clubs who might push for the most serious of sanctions to be applied,.

Why don’t the PL just say “ all documents have to be filed by the start of the next season “
failure to do so is a 6 point penalty and no points can be won unless all said paperwork is presented.
same for everyone no exceptions!

I bet it would be sorted before the start of the season.

Being naturally cynical about these things, the bare minimum will happen. The Premier League loves the big spending, that keeps the headlines up and keeps it in its self appointed position of 'the best league in the world'. Having all the big names keeps that big TV revenue flowing in and keeps the foreign markets interested. Having a fair and competitive league is irrelevant and I am sure that they would rather the big names keep winning, the ones that sell shirts and TV subscriptions. Maybe a fine and a transfer ban that will be tiedl up in appeals for long enough to get the squad strengthened even more.

If football wanted parity they would have a fixed spending cap and not the moveable feast that is FFP.

Because then they can't give the bigger clubs silly little fines that are meaningless then come down like a ton of bricks if Fulham did it for example

City weren't one of the bigger clubs that long ago. Maybe clubs like Fulham need to get a massive investor, spend billions and by the time the PL react, they'll be one of the biggest clubs

And that’s sums up Citys position perfectly. City had to spend money and quickly as the top table of Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea did very well out of the prem league and never wanted anyone else sat at the top table. The only way to get there was spending vast sums of money.
Then relate that to European football. Juve, Milan’s, Barca, Madrid etc etc never wanted it.
Are City squeaky clean am positive they are but they had no choice but to go the way they have. Initially. Look at Chelsea, why have they spent half a billion this last season. To stay at the top table. Money has helped kill the game for years. It has now been taken to another level.
Will watch the case with great interest.

It’s the equivalent to golf penalizing relative unknown players for slow play and not penalizing a bigger name.

Any other team outside Premier League would be dealt with harshly, City will likely get a big fine and it will have difference to them.

Sadly, this is exactly how it works. QPR were fined £42m which is crippling for a team outside the premier league. City won't receive any meaningful punishment.

That is one hell of a lot of money for QPR!

Forest were fined (I forget how much) and banned from transfers for about 4 windows. Took us selling Matty Cash among a few other academy players to balance the books and allow us to start business again. A crippling few years thanks to our previous owner, who nearly ruined the club.

They've just let him spend quite a bit in Jan and then sacked him Only in football!

Leeds are a bit like Everton, play better football to be fair, in that they don't have a back up striker and as Bamford and Calvert Lewin have been continuously been injured for the last 18 months we have both struggled. I don't think there is a lot wrong at Leeds but if you can't score then you are always going to be in trouble. They have some decent players, it will be a good job for the next person in.
