I maybe on my own here, but i think it is great to see him playing far more consistant over the last year or so.

he's finally found a happy medium with his weight (or gastric band, which ever you prefer!) and is stringing together 3 rounds of decent golf.

yeah i know, it need to be 4 before he is challenging again, but bear in mind he has improved his OWGR from 660 to 280 this year and a decent week here sets him up well.

Lets not forget he is 46 and it wont be long before he is on the seniors tour, and that will be interesting to watch!

I personally think he is great for the game and i love watching his no nonsense approach.

Great natural talent, but cursed with a streak of self-destruction.

I too would like to see him pull it together and play well. And it is great to see him playing briskly, unlike so many younger players.

He is a legend and one of the rare breed of real people in a world that is becoming more and more about manufactured golfers. His book is no literary masterpiece but it is a great yarn. He would probably be the number one man (number one female would be miranda kerr) to have a round with followed by a boozy night (at least he would have been pre-sobriety). For all of the criticisms that can be levelled at him, he won 2 majors - immense talent.

For a guy who has lived life like he has its great to see him still out there doing what he loves. I doubt he'll ever win again but if he can string a few good events together and give the fans a glimpse of his immense talent then good luck to him

Have met him twice now (briefly) Heis not a nice man ..
He is one of the ones who could have been realy BIG in the game , ok you can blame the sudden fame & money for winning a major as an alternate but as swinger said he takes big appearence money & then god only knows which JD you will get , the i will earn this & play well or the have my dosh , miss the cut & get out of here ..

i have had the honour to spend an afternoon with john and he is a great bloke no hairs and graces and a proper down to earth bloke,myself and a group of mates where in a small bar/cafe in southport and john came over and asked if he could join us for a drink and he had us enthralled with his tales of his life both on and off the course,he signed autographs and had his photo taken without any moans unlike some on the tour,it was a bit like having a mate playing on the tour and his final comment to us still sticks in my head "no good lying on your death bed and thinking how boring your life has been."
