The comparison I would like to see

Having watched some of these video comparisons I started thinking about what I would find interesting, so here goes.

Take maybe 3 irons from a set of a few years ago, and a newer set with the revised lofts and lengths - trying to be as similar as possible, so maybe

old set 6, 7, 8
new set 7, 8, 9

Report back on the gaps between the clubs in same set and the dispersion stats - and compare across.

As has been said by many, I'm not too interested what the manufacturer has stamped on the bottom more about can I use the tools to hit the targets.

Maybe someone has already done this?

Why not take a 20yr old set and put in modern shafts and see what happens. We all know the lofts are strengthened but what if ou just updated the shafts ?

Already been done, kind of. Mark crossfield has taken a traditional 7 iron, and then bent a new TM delofted 7 iron to the same loft, cut the shaft to the same length, etc. guess what? They go the same distance! It's all marketing! Wow! Never would have guessed. stunning.
