I confess I watched some of the golf "free" on a website last night... I think it was NBC golf channel...

There must have been an ad break after every 2 or 3 shots... seriously.. and they were mostly the same ads...

Is this what Sky TV is like if I choose to subscribe?

It was driving me up the wall!

Sky get the feed from the yanks but do cut to the studio instead of ad breaks sometimes. They have a shot centre where this weekend they have had Dennis Pugh and David Howell playing shots at Augusta which is quite entertaining. A bit more golf would be nice but there isn't much Sky can do about it.

depends

towards the end of a tournament they take the opportunity to deliver more adverts rather than showing people walking...Sky is taking the same golf feeds but doesn't always switch to an advert - they give us 'shot centre' and comment etc to fill in the gap.

when the actions hectic there is more normal advert spacing.

I freeze the golf on Sky Plus for about half an hour, and then fast forward through all the ads. Actually it is probably best to freeze for about an hour.

Different regulations over here thankfully as there is a limit to how many minutes of ads can be shown per hour.

Shot Centre is entertaining as mentioned above.

i watched on a 45 min delay on the v+ last night and i seemed to be forwarding through ads every 3 shots or so...

i like the sky team they had on last night, but they were on frequently so golf coverage was kept to the absolute minimum. the leaders were 3 balls spread out over 3 groups so there should have been the possibility of reasonable coverage, but for an hour of tv I'd hate to estimate how much was spent actually seeing shots... 5% / 10% maybe...

another vote for 45 mins 'Pause', you're not that far behind the 'live' coverage and after about 90 mins you're prob only 15 mins behind.

Agreed about BBC, will switch to their Sat/Sun coverage if their HD quality is at least as good as SKY's (it wasn't last year)

This. My Mrs is out ALL day on Saturday so I will have uniterrupted viewing of Saturday and most of Sunday. Working Friday night which sucks, but will record and fast forward when I get home.

Some of the golf related adverts on Sky are pretty cringeworthy.

My current pet hate is the one for Golfing in Wales....now there are some actors destined to be extras forever!

All American sports are like this, I watch a lot of ice hockey and they have breaks mid period, and also everything that can be sponsored is, penalties, power plays, replays etc etc etc

You do kinda get used to it
