This is my first post as a Forum user. Encouraged by my playing partners at yesterdays PPG. great afternoon, well arranged, my poor strategy didnt spoil my fun.

Titleist vokey wedges and Pro V1 balls only in my bag!! :p

RBS Logo on the balls by any chance?

Were they Titleist NXT Tours? I have loads of them :D

Only the top of the Range ones for Steve. I don't believe NXT's would get a look in as the 7 or so other premium balls he found on one hole yesterday definatly won't be!

Absolutely RBS balls, best value in the market place. well played yesterday, good putting!!!

steve

Cheers Steve. Always nice to go home with something but if anyone had seen me putting on the course then they wouldn't have believed it!

Thanks for the game Steve, enjoyed your company. Hope to do it again sometime.

Welcome to the forum!

I second all of the above. Great to meet you Steve and nice work on getting yourself signed up so quickly!

As with everyone else, i would like to thank Golf Monthly and PPG for a great day at the Grove yesterday.

I was one of the non-forum members (albeit a non-winning, non-forum member)who was nearly tared and feathered for not being 'one of us', but here i am now!!

I had a really great day, with Ian, Richard and Alex, good game and good laughs. Great group of guys there yesterday and i look forward to getting involved!

Tom

Welcome along, good to see you made it :D

I have a Bushnell as well...

The Nikon didn't sit as comfortably in the hand as the Bushnell does. This would annoy me over time. You hardly feel the Bushnell, the Nikon is all corners.
They do pretty much the same job.

Thanks Ian.

I've only had a play with a Bushnell once, but the thing I din't like was having to press the button once I'd aimed at the target. It's hard enough to hold it still at 5x magnification that pressing the button for me made me move it off the target.

I liked just pressing the button on the Nikon then aiming and getting instant readouts. I didn't think the numbers were very easy to read though being black on a dark green background most of the time.

The good thing about the bushnell is the pinseeker mode which means you don't have to hold it on the target exactly, just as long as you get the flag at some point it gives you the yardage to the closest object, which would normally be the flag unless you're in the trees

Tried the Nikon on the way round and it reiterated why I don't like rangefinders. Found my hands weren't steady enough and had trouble getting a proper fix on specific targets like bunkers especially the ones that were partially hidden. At least SC and the others give you that instantly. Maybe I'm just too entrenched in my views

What was your opinion of the Nikon against your Bushnell?

Bushnell won hands down!! Sits more ergonomically in the hand. Annoyingly all I could see was my eyelashes in the Nikon and it looked like something was constantly in front of the screen. When I spoke to the Nikon rep after, he reckoned I was holding it too close to my eye and you are supposed to hold it away a little bit.
Thats all very well but holding my Bushnell close to my eye gives it extra stability when fixing on points and I don't get eyelashes obscuring the view.
I still think the Bushnell takes some beating and sets the benchmark for the others.
