Texas Scramble

Played one scramble at Royal Perth, needed to take two drives per person.....we started on the 2nd hole and when we got to the 1st we were 18 under par.....still had to take one drive from our high handicapper.....you could hear a pin drop and no one saying anything.

Out of bounds left was in play....anyway he knuckled it down the fairway, I hit a five wood just short and my mate chipped it dead....

we won the day as well.....:)

we had a 2 man scramble in our member/guest invitation day a couple of weeks ago. -8 was the best gross score (from a 3 and 4 hcp).
2 man seemed a lot more enjoyable as a) you felt more involved and b) with it being two man you had a pair scoring for you so results were a lot more trustworthy!

Two drives from each player over 18 holes is easy, hardly seems worth it. Your man must have played crap if you didn't manage to get a second one in before then!

I recently had a 9-hole scramble where we needed 2 from each - that was tough. Unfortunately we weren't able to get my mate's second drive in on the 8th (blocked out by a tree), so he had to hit on his own on the 9th. In tomorrow's 18-hole scramble we need to use 4 tee shots per player. With the 50mph winds the biggest challenge will be getting enough tee shots in play! Before we even get to the greenkeepers revenge pins. 😧

I play in probably the windest place in the uk and I can tell you now it’s virtually impossible to play in 50mph winds.
Good luck if you try, it’s blowing a gale here now probably about 40mph winds and there’s no way I would attempt to play golf.
Let us know how you get on….. if you attempt to play😂

We have 40-50 mph gusts forecast for tomorrow - last medal of the season. Half of me is hoping for an email this afternoon saying the competition is cancelled. Will not be much fun hacking it round, although my top off the tee could come in handy ;)

Yeah, I know that! It will be completely ridiculous. But we've all paid £25 entry (there's food etc included) so unless it's cancelled we'll be there. Can only hope it's not as bad as the weather forecast suggests. That is the gusts speed I'm giving there - maybe we get lucky and there aren't that many gusts. 😬

You will only get a gust when your ball is hit just in bounds, the gust will take it OOB. If you ball is heading OOB, don't expect a gust to bring it back to the fairway

Yup. And it's amazing how few of the 18 holes play with wind behind. Usually one if we're lucky. :ROFLMAO:

Yea I realize it was gust speed but even 40mph winds it will borderline playable.
Be more sensible if they postponed it till next weekend.
They’ve just stopped at the Dunhill but they are having rain as well.
It will be challenging if you play 😉

Give it a miss 👍

He did not have a good day, but finished in the winner's circle. 🙂

How’s this for a crazy score. 43 on a course that I thought was pretty difficult.

From the club's Facebook page:

I was in primary school with xxxxx xxxxxx he was banned from all birthday party’s because he used to cheat at pass the parcel, I see he’s still up to his old tricks, a leopard never changes its spots.

🤣 😂 🤣 I like a scramble but that's utter bull 💩.. They should be ashamed of themselves.
We had one last week.. Winning score was 53 which is about 2 or 3 shots lower than the normal winning score..
We play 4 tee shot min each and 1 must be a par 3... You don't want to be the one playing the last par 3 if you have a decent card in hand..

We also had one last week, my team won with 52, got loads of stick in the clubhouse for having such a low score. 43 is just mental.

We have the same rules, 4 drives each, one needs to be a par 3. We also had a shotgun start, which meant the last par 3 we played was the longest and most difficult. I was the poor sod who had the only tee shot. Fortunately I managed to hit a halfway decent shot and we scrambled a par.

When posting winning scores in Scrambles, It would be more useful to post the actual gross score and even better the handicaps of the players, as the points scored don't mean much, 43 points might be they shot 27 under or level par with a 27 handicap ?

Again, it is not 43 points, this is a nett score.

Yes, but was that 27 under of 0 handicap or level par with an handicap allowance of 27 , completely different scenarios
I wonder what the hcps would need to be to get 27 shots.. 🤣...
Regardless, am not having 43 nett no matter who's playing... The only way you would ever get close to that was if there was no rule for how many tee shots you have to play each.... And even then... It just ain't happening..
