I ADORE tex mex/tex scrambles - i love the strategies you play in order to win, i love the team spirit and the fact that nobody is marking your card, I love the fact that if you hit a good shot and 3 people say so, then u are really chuffed and i love it when they pick your ball

but, is it real golf, or medal play the only real golf? ;)

i LUV them, great bonding team event. not proper golf but a fun different format to play, we play them on our outings and its a gud laugh bragging rights etc.

Not real golf for me. But is a very good fun round. Get one off the tee or on the green first off then all go for it. I've driven two of the Par4s during texas scrambles only for them not to be used.

It is nice to play a team event like Texas Scramble. If its hitting roundy things into holes with bent batty things then its golf.

I have one later in the year, dont know how they work though. Can someone enlighten me.
oooo - you'll love it! all 4 team members tee off, then they pick the best one - everyone picks up their ball, the one chosen is marked by a tee, then you all play from that spot. keep going in same style til ball goes in the hole. you will play the course in something stupid under par - you tend to par/ birdie /bogie holes - its great!! ;)

You are right Heidi but you failed to point out that each player has to have their tee shot selected on four holes. It gets tense at the end if 'the duffer' of the team has to have their tee shot counting on the last hole. It is up to the team leader to try and make sure it does not happen.
It's a very entertaining format.

for anyone that says its real golf... how can picking up your ball and moving it to a more favorable lie stay even remotely true to "play it as it lies" rule of golf.
Its designed as a social event. It always helps you to remember why we play this stupid game at times.

actually matchplay is arguably the only real form of golf - but life moves on and, frankly, who cares - as long as you enjoy it!

as far as scrambles go though, it's almost impossible to make them a fair competition; but kudos to those that try and mine's a large pimms for the rest (one per hole)

i seem to be a regualr scramble winner - won new Captain's Drive-In scramble again today - i think that's the last 3 years running. Must suit my game (i.e. i dont have to rely on my own putting :) )

Great fun but not real golf imo. I think only matchplay and medal play are the real forms of golf. They provide a proper test.
