Tell us an interesting fact about yourself

My eyelid sticks to my glass eye when it gets really icy out, bloody painful but funny at the same time!

Once sold an icecream to Alvin Stardust at Chester Zoo.

Not much, sorry, had a few bevvies :p. Gotta stop soon as playing my first round in over 3 months tomorrow...I'm to excited!!

I literally bumped into Craig Stadler when I was wee. Watching the open practice at St Andrews.

Oh, and I have a piercing in an "unorthodox" area!!

When a young teenager at the Irish Open in Portmarnock i was in the pro shop with a few friends when we bumped into a dislay stand of gloves and Brian Barnes-with his pipe and wearing horrible shorts roared at us to pick it up.

Think I always guessed you had a colourful past (?) but now I am really envious. Dan Maskell- would love to have met him - was an avid tennis fan from teenager onwards. James Bolam someone else I've followed from his days on 'when the boat comes in' to 'Beiderbeck' series and even now he is going strong in New Tricks. But then I admire anyone who just sticks to the job long term and does it well.
Maybe it's an age thing!

One of my "claims to fame" was 2 years ago at the annual Hop Festival in Faversham when the head brewer at the Shepherd Neame brewery, in front of about 60 other participants at a "beer appreciation" session, said to me "don't I know you from somewhere?"

Recognition at last.

Not really exactly an interesting fact but what the heck. I've drunk enough of their beer.

BTW has anyone ever won the finals of a national knockout competion? My partner did on the Brabazon needing only a very little help from me!

Steady on AliB. Surely you can't be old enough to remember those programmes, or have you been watching repeats?

And Barbara Flynn in The Beiderbeck Affair (and Open All Hours), I wonder if she would like to play a round with me.....

Missed out on the ford home internationals at Belvoir GC (qualification to UK finals) by only a couple of shots, was expecially gutting as I made a hash out of a recovery by trying to hit it left handed, took two shots more than if I had just played out safe backwards.
Ive actually learned how to play a wedge lefthanded now because of it, Im naturally left handed at everything bar golf, strange!

Last year James Bolam beat me by one shot to win the Stage Golfing Society's Cup winners cup called the Bunch and I'll be working with him in two weeks when I film an episode of New Tricks.... By the way, he really is that nice...

Now you know how difficult it is for us left hookers to play.

New thread coming up.

Once held the world record for the most continuous frames of snooker.

Played golf with Daryl Peach this september two weeks later he became the world pool champion.

My late dad's cousin played the Queen Mum in 'Queen'. (She's also the nurse in 'Ice Cold in Alex')

(The nearest I came was helping to fix one of the cars when they were filming 'Oh What a Lovely War' and helping out with the lighting/sound for a Johnny Kidd and the Pirates gig - it was a way of getting in free!)

I got a hole in 1 by hitting the worst shot of my life hit it about 2 inches off the floor and as i did i turned my bak on the shot, it scuttled through the bunkers (apparantly coz i was not watching) and then my playing partner said thats going to be close! Just turned back to see it fall into the cup! Actually said when it was rolling up the green please dont go in, please dont go in, and then when it went in ran round like a nutter chearing! something wrong there dont you think! Didn't want a hole in 1 on such a bad shot but cheered and ran around when it went in strange feeling!! ha ha

Mine is probably that I am an avid collector of Phantom Of The Opera memorabilia and know the script off by heart!

You're either going to love this or hate it MWJ but I was at the very first showing of Phantom of The Opera at Her Majesties Theatre some 20 years ago. It was the charity premier prior to the star studded event. Half way through the first scene the set jammed and they went back and started again from the top.

After the performance Lloyd Webber came out and auctioned the original hand-annotated score for one of the pieces to the audience. My memory is fuzzy but I seem to remember ir going for something like £7000.

I was second row, upper circle, dead centre and yes, I can confirm the chandalier bit scared the living sh1t out of me

Well, I dont know if it is a 'Claim to Fame'..........but I once stabbed Arnold Palmer in the arm with a Biro pen.

It was back in 1970 at the Open at St Andrews and as a 16 year old, I had travelled through from my home to spend the day at the Old Course watching my heroes.
I had got myself down to the practise putting area when the 'Great Man' made his way to polish up his game on the puting green.
As there wasnt many people about(initially) i decided to hang about at the entrance to the 'area' to get his autograph,.......... well Ive never, never known anyone to practise putting for that long. He eventually finished his umteenth bag of balls and started to move away. I thought this would be my chance.
Unfortunately nearly half of St Andrews had congregated behind me and surged forward with the same idea. Suddenly I was as close to AP as I could be and as my pen was poised it was caught up in the sleeve of his sweater.I removed it as quickly as I could and apologised profusely.

All he said was 'No harm done son' ................NO HARM DONE!!!!!!!!!. jeez I almost put paid to his challenge for golfs greatest competition and that was all he said.

My admiration for the man got a whole lot higher and has never altered.

Bye the way ...........I got his autograph.

i worked in the R&A locker room during the 2005 open and was working on the late shift...when Sandy Lyle walked in and struck up a conversation, which was great; a true gent. He disappeared for about 15 mins....then while i was wiping down the sinks, Sandy steps out of the shower and asks me to hand him a towel :o...now for all the ladies out there...you missed out!
