Berwick (the Tweedy one)

Even although I live in Northumberland I’ve still never played it and have no intention of either at their current prices.

Maybe I’ll stick my name down for a county event if there is one there but no chance I’ll be paying that visitor green fee.

Not as difficult as Goswick I’d say.
The OP is looking for a prestige course day 1, an occasional golfer friendly course day 2. I wouldn't say The Roxburgh is an occasional golfer friendly course, it's more the day 1 option..

It's a different challenge to Goswick but both are tough. If you score well at both courses, you've done well.

Goswick’s new hole due to be open by April, par 3 9th has gone and new Par 3 put in between 6th & 7th.

Next phase is to move the 1st Tee box to the left, making the opening hole a bit straighter and away from the trees on the right of the fairway.
Sounds good. I was last there in October, work hadn’t started then.

Eyemouth has two stunning holes. The fifth ( I think ) sneak round to the white tee and attempt to hit the ball over a 140 yard cliff face. Then when you get to the er 12th I think, again go to the whites and play the longest hole in Scotland!!!!! Magdalene fields is great as well. This has a shot over some cliffs, but nowhere near as dramatic as Eyemouth. Both are excellent courses, and have very friendly clubhouses.

Think I’m the only person on the planet who isn’t a fan of Goswick, maybe it’s been the weather or I’ve not played particularly well there but it’s very meh for me. Dunbar maybe 45 minutes up the road, I’d definitely drive the extra miles to play there again.

Not the only person on the planet. It’s got some cracking holes but not 18 of them.

I played along this coast a couple of years back. First of all, it's great, I recommend it to all as a UK tour.
"Best" is different for different people . First off, they're all nice courses with friendly people, decent value for what they are, and lovely scenery.
Goswick is (imho) the best golf course. Has the best practice facilities. But it's the most expensive, doesn't have great sea views and is a little snooty.
Alnmouth (foxton) is parkland with some holes by the sea, so if you're looking for links, not great.
Seahouses has some holes over the road which are very ordinary, but the "proper" holes are great and it's cheap and friendly. also nearest to Berwick.
Dunstanburgh doesn't have as good golf holes as Goswick, but it's got wonderful sea views, it's 100% links and it's great value/ friendly.
So, horses for courses really. My mates would probably chose D to go back to, but that's a very small sample size.

That’s a tough one, because they’re all good, but I’ll try!

From best to worst I’ll go Goswick, Dunstanburgh, Bamburgh, Alnwick.

Highlights how subjective choices can be. I’d go Dunstanburgh, Bamburgh, then a toss up between the other two. I liked Alnmouth(Foxton Hall) because it wasn’t a slog - in challenging, golfing terms it probably comes last but it’s just a fun course.

Id pick
Goswick 1st
Head and shoulders above the others mentioned above and imo the best course in my county, Northumberland
Then Alnmouth if you meant Foxton hall, though its defenitely not links
Closely followed by dunstanburgh
Then Bamburgh in 4th, though if it was based on views alone, and photo opportunities, Bamburgh would win hands down

1 and 4 id always have in them places
2 and 3 I could toss a coin and switch them around, on another day

Are you saying Seahouses is nearest to Berwick? It’s south of Bamburgh and Goswick and north of Dunstaburgh.
It just confused me what you meant.👍🏻

Haha. not very well put by me.
I counted Goswick as Berwick ('cause in my tiny by mind it is) so didn't really include it in my directions.
I didn't include BC on my list, so it was discounted from my dodgy geog altogether.
Apart from that, I'm bang on...
