The news has finally broken (had been rumored for a few weeks), that TM is buying (or is that merging) with Adams Golf.

Should be good for Adams and may give them a boost with the marketing of TM behind them

That's funny,I was at a Harold Swash centre the other day and noticed the new putters were white, the pro told me Adams had taken over Yes golf! Makes sense now.
Guess that makes TM the most played hybrid on tour now?

It would be nice to think that this would mean the expertise of Adamas, especially their hybrids, combining with the availability of TM, as Adams gear is not that easy to test and get hold of over here.

However, I fear that the TM effect could just swallow up Adams, losing the qualities that made them an attractive takeover prospect in the first place.

I like to see a few smaller, independant manufacturers doing well. Having a good product line up, and dominating their particular field (in this case hybrids). Having them gobbled up by major multinationals is not going to be good for the consumer. How long before Adams are just badge engineered TM cast offs, to save on R and D?

People are buying Adams gear either because of the performance,or the looks. Those that consider the looks of TM gear to be ott will not purchase Adams stuff if it changes to be more like TM gear. If they also let them have the cast offs then they won't be buying because of performance either.

TM will have bought because of the Patents and the R&D they already have there. Can't believe they would spend a lot of money on picking them off just to run them to the ground with cast offs, more likely they use the R&D to improve their own clubs and use the name for more 'normal' designs that will still appeal to the current buyers.

It remains to be seen if Adams will remain as a brand alongside TM or simply be swallowed up and the Adams patents used in TM branded gear though.

So, it could well be a sad day if the Adams brand starts to disappear.

The statement they released is pretty clear that the brand will remain.

Long term we have no idea, but it would be pure speculation to say anything different.

Prepare for the quality of Adams to nosedive.

Really saddened by this news. Adams took on the big boys and overtook them.

adidas tried to buy Titleist & Footjoy when they were up for sale and bid a higher amount than the Korean consortium.

Adams is a good addition for TMaG and will compliment the Ashworth clothing line

Can see both sides of this one. As a TM fan it makes good business sense and hopefully TM will learn a lot on how Adams do things particularly in the hybrid field. On the down side I guess over time the Adams product line is bound to get squeezed and so how much stuff will be left in that name

I can see this working in a similar way to Titleist and Cobra with each brand aiming at a different market or age group. I can see no reason why Adams cannot thrive with the exta marketing budget and expertise and really break the market outside the US.
