Taylormade Qi35 driver

Cobra brought out a 440 driver yonks ago. Doubt there will be any copyright issue, though.

Might be a different story if Ping make a set of 440 irons though.

Looks like the Taylormade could be the top dog this year, now that Ping has literally downgraded their offering with the MOI reduction, Cobra, interesting but focusing on complexity behond sensible and just not expensive enough to be taken seriously, Callaway, maybe suiting some, but just having to many issues and problems to be able to trust it and appeal to the mainstream, Mizuno, doesnt really matter what they do as their success as an iron brand kills them, and Titleist never really seeming to break outside their hardcore supporters. Back to the glory days of the Burner and R7 ?

I think Titleist GT is up there with anything.
I like how they don’t seem interested in releasing products at the same time as everyone else.

I believe QI is pronounced like the word key. I know someone who went to school with a friend of the brother of the Taylormade CEO, and it is actually a nod to Don Quixote, the classic Spanish novel which was his favourite book at school.

I think it's supposed to be pronounced queue eye, not Q I 😆

Took the standard QI35 on to the course today, overall very happy with it, set up was 9 degree head with the Ventus Blue 5s Regular shaft.

Really nice set up behind the ball, felt confident standing over it.

Hit 11 out of 13 Fairways (85%) which for handicap is excellent, Avg Dist was 198yd with the longest being 233yds.

How did distance compare to your current driver? What is current driver?

Sounds good. Remember to get a proper fitting if spending all that cash.

May not all be as positive as the first reviews suggested. Golf Monthly have identified a huge problem with it, so looks like a big risk to take for that kind of money. Ping seems to be the best allrounder and without the problems that seem to be plaguing the other brands. Caveat emptor.

What’s the huge problem?

I’ll give the Demos a few rounds when our pro shop get them but I cannot see me buying one. £529 for the TM and £579 for Titleist - crazy money but someone has to pay for Rory’s 200m contract….

Is there more info or a link to the problem? I know someone who works at TM and would love to know what he thinks.

They seem reluctant to spell it out, but are warning its a huge problem. The youtube review notes it, but avoids going into the detail, and is actually quite positive on the Qi35. The reviewer does explain how TM contacted him after last years review when he posted ball speed reductions for one model, which was a consequence of TM's design anyway, so maybe they dont like reviewers stating negative aspects too explicitly.

So they don’t like reviews telling the truth.?
That’s going to stop people buying them until they do.
Bad marketing .

Probably the font on the underside of the club, similar to the new callaway driver. 🤪
